    Per the LAW of the LAND that is taught in Civics in Public Schools electors MUST vote in accordance with the MAJORITY will of the voters in their state.

    They do NOT have any other legitimate option, PERIOD.

    I wish we could create an alternate reality in a parallel universe where Kamala Harris and AOC could run your life.

    So you'd get to see what it was like.

    The free stuff would be nice for a while, but after a couple of years you'd probably end up in a gulag, and the standard of living would greatly decline, but you'd be constantly told everywhere around you that everything was "great".

    Who are you kidding? The 20th Amendment, in part:

    Section 3. If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President elect shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.​

    It's funny that I'm seeing threads like this pop up here - because I remember way back in 2016 a number of Hollywood Half-Wits disagreeing with you. But don't take my word for it ...



    Heck, we even had a thread about it HERE. And it sure looks like at least one LW poster there was for the idea of electors switching sides. Look at what @Ronstar wrote HERE ...

    So, it's not as if the LW should be against the idea.

    There isn't a definitive answer to when does a person become president elect, as it isn't an official term, but the norm is when the General Services Administration declares a winner, which in this case was yesterday, which makes Biden the "president-elect" and Harris "vice president-elect". Quite often, the people in question are considered "president-elect" as soon as election night if the election seems decisive enough.
    And I didn't even have a civics course!
