    My position is the Founders. That is, I consider myself a Deist but not really for organized religion per say. But I do embrace the whole spirit of this holiday, which is to give thanks to my family, my friends and to the greater forces of the universe for allowing me to have peace and prosperity on that day.

    Let's give thanks to god by engaging in gluttony (one of the 7 deathly sins) for a day and then shop our brains out the next day (greed, another deathly sin). That's the capitalist Christian way. Just saying...

    That's funny .. because every Christian I know (and admittedly I don't know dozens of 'em) does just that on these types of holidays. They're actually the worst offenders.

    Honest, Abe did not create Thanksgiving, it was the Chinese. The Chinese created Thanksgiving so that there would be a Bkack Friday so Americans woukd buy all sorts of stuff made in China.

    We are going to have a big day with lots of family...

    My wife has been cooking for a days.

    The house smells and looks like something out of Norman Rockwell's version of America.

    And yes we will give thanks to God for our health and all our blessings.

    I am not the most religious man but I know there is a God.

    With that said may God bless you and yours whether you like it or not.

    Correct! But Lincoln made it a federal holiday and set the date as the fourth Thursday in November.
