Dictators are easy to spot.

Ida Amin- his father was from Africa too- probably Birthers will make that connection- murdered thousands, looted the country, killed whoever he felt like, even used Uganda's National Parks as his private hunting preserve. The political opposition lived in terror. Only left power when forced to by military force.

Omar Ghaddafy- came to power in a military coupe, used his troops to murder thousands of citizens, through thousands in jail for their political beliefs. His political opponents knew to be discrete or face jail time or worse. Removed from office by military force.

Now Birthers would equate these and other real dictators with Barack Obama.

Did Obama come to power through a military coupe? No- he followed all the political processes described in the Constitution and by law.

Has Obama looted the country for his personal gain? No evidence of that.

Has he had his political opponents imprisoned or murdered? No.

Is Obama participating in the political process? Of course he is.

Will Obama refuse to leave office if he doesn't win the election or if he is termed out? No sign or indication that he would do so, nor that our country would allow such dictatorial actions.

Simply arguing that President Obama has taken Presidential actions which you don't agree with, doesn't make him a dictator.

And there is a body specifically empowered to prevent a President from assuming dictatorial powers- Congress. If Congress believes that he is acting dictatorially, why they can impeach him.

Something no dictator would allow to happen.
