Did you catch this part? I also think we are thinking of different things when talking about first case/second case. In my mind the first case were the prior days when he was preaching, the second case was when he kept his mouth shut and just wore the shirt. I’m in agreement with the mall that if they say no preaching and he does it anyway then he should leave, and so should people who preach blm, gay pride, political, Islamic, gender, etc stuff because it annoys people even when they agree with it. The guard also said people were offended by the shirt.

The guard replies: 'Again, I'm giving you a couple options. You can take the shirt off and you can go to Macy's and you can do your shopping.

'Or you can leave the mall, OK? Those are your only options right now,.'

 

This is one of the rare stories where the headline doesn’t say White Cop Oppresses Black Man.

Agreed, once others peaceful enjoyment of private property is violated the owner or their representatives should always be able to ask that individual to cease said activity or vacate.

We live in the age of the perpetually offended — from blue haired liberal to evangelical conservative.

And he did indeed say that, likely due to the prior interaction but what the ultimate result of the interaction was he was allowed to remain on property and was allowed to keep the shirt on. There are a ton of unknown variables and all we do know is that he had been previously removed due to bothering other patrons, was at the mall after the first instance, was asked to remove his shirt or leave, ended up not having to do either.

 

So we have pieced together what happened. In summary, based on prior conduct and complaints, he was asked to remove the shirt or leave by one of the security guards. Another joined the discussion and they ascertained that he had been and was going to be better behaved this time, so they decided to de-escalate and see how another chance worked out. It seems like this worked out well for both sides. He got to stay, and wear his shirt, other customers were not harassed by him. Win/win everywhere but on this forum where someone wanted to turn it into a loss and Christian victimhood. I think everyone behaved in a way as to encourage this guy to stop bothering customers and he stopped bothering customers.

Alright. The shirt is offensive to folks practicing other religions. They crossed the word 'co-exist', and the shirt read 'Jesus is the only way'. I'll count it as hateful expression. I'd kick that person off my property.

And before someone calls me sensitive, let me just share with you my opinion on Ann Coulter's statements that I, a Jew, will go to hell. That isn't hate speech. Her religious group believes that all people that do not accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will go to hell. I can see the distinction.

"Jesus Saves" is perfectly fine on a t-shirt. But "Mary Spends" would be aggressively sexist.
