I think she will be much more at home there. And I doubt this will be the only defection from Fox News after the sons have taken over.

Dear GOD these prices are obscene. Couric makes as much money as LeBron James for crying out loud(not including endorsements.) How can we as a country complain about the homeless, or about poor schools when news anchors are paid like that for our entertainment. We reap what we sow.

Slightly ironic, Fox having basically pimped her book to distraction. Bet they're feeling a bit silly now.

Over here, the top BBC anchors get around a million at most.

Sounds like Miss Kelly has too much integrity for the likes of Faux News. This is definitely a step up for her. On another note, my dad always smirked at "those millionaire TV talking heads who have no connection with the poor, none."

She's always been more of a left-winger. A fake conservative who found out how to make a career for herself. She's going to her rightful home. It'll be fun to watch how liberals, who have historically hated her for being on FOX, suddenly embrace her :)

Well isn't the BBC government funded? Just asking.

It does bring up something interesting if she leaves. Old Bill isn't getting any younger and it leaves them without a real prime time anchor in a few years.

They should probably look at Tomi Lahren. She's conservative outspoken and most importantly, young. They could use that in their lineup.

It's amusing you think network anchor and news personalities have "integrity". For people like Peter Jennings, Dan Rather and Katie Couric the very last adjective I would attribute to them would be "integrity".

Nahhh! You're a free marketer, aren't you? I'd be shocked if M Kelly signs for less than $20 million per annum. The one to really watch will be Bill O'Reilly, his deal with Fox is also up. He was already getting about $20 million per - what do you think he will get now, especially with Kelly already gone?

P.S. In all seriousness the question you asked in your above post is a good one and in the past there has been methods to deal with it....sort of. The problem is the "fixes" are unpalatable to a certain group of people. I think you can guess the substance.....

Oh dear, isn't this a can of worms you've opened up ;). And thus compelled to give my position on it. I do believe in our economic system to a very good degree. I think business owners have the right to hire whomever they want at the wages they want(or in this case, the contract that two parties agree to) Fundamentally, the problem is the closed market. There are very few TV news networks, thus very few competitors. Thus, the price is raised out of proportion to the persons's actual capability.

Add to that, that few people would match Couric's presumed value, and there you go: Overinflation, but this time on a MASSIVE scale that fragrantly violate the concept of a true open market. In a layman's terms, we can fix this in two ways: Introducing competition so that it's not just Fox, MSNBC and maybe ABC/CBS at best. Or, introducing more and more journalists with the same degree, the same quality of work so that Ms. Couric doesn't get 20 million.

I mean, good for her but it's totally out of proportion and she herself would probably admit it. But no human is going to throw away 20 million, she'd be spiting herself to do it. It's a system problem, not a Couric problem.

Can the powers that be of the top rated news source in America make it so the door actually DOES hit Megyn in the ass on her way out?

That would be fun to watch!

I strongly agree. News is not supposed to be entertainment. I have felt that way all my life, and I saw Roone Arlidge turn ABC News into a the sort of flashy peeudo game show that all cable TV news is today back in the mid 1970's. I knew we were on a downhill spiral from there.

    So did Paddy Cheyefsky:

Which is what begat Donald Trump, and nobody knows it better than Donald Trump.

    Yup,

The New York Times was not founded or run by a partisan poltical activist with a history of dirty tricks. Fox was.

The New York Times admits when it gets things wrong. Fox never does.

The New York Times does not print spin pieces verbatim from right wing organizations or right wing politicians and pretend that it is their own creative product.

    Fox does.

When the New York Times gives you its opinion, they separate it from their news reporting..

    Fox does not.

You would know all of that if you actually read.

The left wouldn't have rallied around her during this election cycle if they truly believed her to be a "conservative icon".

    She's not. Never has been.
