If they wanted "asylum" that would be in Mexico if they come from Central America..

    Look at a map.

Who besides trump says they're criminals. He's only lied to you about 10,000 times since becoming president.

People here illegally are here well ... illegally therefor a criminal.

If it takes Trump for you to understand what "illegal" means that is pretty damn sad.. Perhaps CJ can have one of his lack of education posts for you.

Ironically enough, my grandmother (mother's mother) is also a die-hard Trump supporter.

But she moved back to the Philippines to retire (cost of living is dirt cheap).

You are comparing apples to oranges.

When our forefathers arrived, there was plenty of open land. It was easy for them to live and not encroach on others. They lived in fairly relative peace with the native people for decades. When our expansion became too vast, the native people tried to stop our "immigration". However, we are not trying to STOP the immigration of others, we are trying to maintain some sense of control over the numbers and attempting to have a system where those entering are vetted.

Another thing our forefathers did...when they started feeling oppressed, they fought for their country and their homes. I wonder what those seeking asylum could accomplish if they fought for their own country and home.

You're saying we no longer have "plenty of open land"?

Are you saying the people coming to our southern border legally are being treated differently than the one who come here illegally?

Immigrants, NOT ILLEGALS, were overjoyed to get here and considering we needed millions of people to build this country we welcomed them.
But back then, there was no welfare. There were no free hospitals. No free anything. You worked or you died. No handouts. No benefits of any kind.

Quite a different world we’re living in now. The fact you even thought it was intelligent to even attempt to compare it all, proves a lack of education and logic.

We believe in that too, but that does NOT give them the right to invade our country and DEMAND anything. They did not have to come. American taxpayers should NOT have to pay for foreign lawbreakers when California and New York have American homeless living in tent cities.mit's disgraceful to put others above your own...

How many of them ask? They come over the border and disappear, then look for welfare. Those who do ask don't seem to show up for their court date and, they too, disappear into the woodwork. It's incredible that you try to justify an illegal invasion. I do not want my taxpayer dollars going to people who have zero regard for another country's laws. If you break one, you'll probably break more.

Why the deflection? Yes, that pesky thing called the law.

Not anywhere even close to how it was 200+ years ago. Most of the land was open, un-owned, and lawless. It is not that way now. It is called progress and building of society. A society where laws are enacted to protect people.

Yes I'm sure the people in El Salvador are eager to move to Montana.

People are fleeing poverty, hunger and violence. They are seeking a better life. A safer life. One that would offer them an opportunity. And isn't that what America proudly states it is? The land of opportunity? The borders are still open for asylum seekers, hoping for that opportunity. Sadly, they find that they are not wanted. We need to determine who we want to be. I understand those who are concerned about their tax dollars being directed toward those who come from other countries, instead of those at home who are in need. But once they are brought in for processing, don't they deserve better?

    From the article:

Many of the complaints center on El Paso, where the inspector general found severe overcrowding inside a processing center. A cell designed for a dozen people was crammed with 76, and migrants had to stand on the toilets.

With indoor facilities overcrowded, the Border Patrol has kept some immigrants outside and in tents near a bridge in El Paso with nothing but a Mylar foil blanket. Others have been kept in an empty parking lot, where migrants huddled underneath tarps and foil blankets repurposed as shade covers against the sweltering heat.

A professor who visited two weeks ago said it resembled a “human dog pound.” The Border Patrol responded by adding additional shade structures, but migrants are still kept outside in temperatures approaching 100 degrees.

Migrants in El Paso and elsewhere also complained of inadequate food such as a single burrito and a cup of water per day. Women said they were denied feminine hygiene products.

Would you call that a crisis? How were they denied? Were they told they could not have them? Or is simply not being handed something for free now defined as denied?

I will go back to my original post, in which I stated that we believe in people being treated as human beings. That, to me, includes conditions far better than what is being offered.

You are actually trying to make an argument based on square mileage? None of this has anything to do with how much open space we have. But i guess when you have no legitimate argument you are reduced to nonsense like this.
