Trump is not responsible for energy independence it was the price of oil that went up to the point where it became profitable to open up marginally producing wells.
Fracking was a big help and boosted our energy production .
The Fracking process which was first develoed in 1949 when Trump was about 3 years old so I have my doubts that he influenced the energy industry as a toddler.
It wasn't until 2013 when fracking hit the critical point. Who was POTUS in 2013? Oh I got it Obama. Of course neither Trump nor Obama were really critical to fracking.
Since Trump was not president in 1812 nor was he even born when the last military British Invasion occurred I would give the honor of stopping that British Invasion to those who were there. Aybe throw a shout out to our PF member A drew Jackson who may have been in the vicinity.

Oh wait maybe you mean that Trump stopped the British music bands Invasion when he was a teen or age 20. I checked iHeart radio and nope the Beatles, Yardbirds, Stones ( my favorite), Hermits , Zombies, the Hollies, The Who, Jerry and the Pacemakers, the Kinks, the single Petula Clark plus many others somehow got through Trimp's WALL.

Europe paying for it's defense in money transfers as the Trumpocity seems to have convinced his fans. That is a hoax as in Fake News.
The way Europe contributes to NATO is by the percentage level of their GDP. That level had been going up albeit slowly but steadily and that impetus was provided by Obama.

Trump had a Schiest storm talking about it out in the open and insulting and doing damage to our allies but warming the heart of his mentor Vladimir.

You maybe forgot or are ignoring the fact that NATO countries hD fought along side us in the first Gulf war, the Iraqi invasion and still with us in Afghanistan.

The pull down in Alghanistan was not a part of any peace but some view it as surrender to the Taliban and abandonment of the good Afghans.

About peace and security in the ME why not ask our one time allies who we scruded, the Kurds, how that went down.

Since there is not actual war going on between Israel and the UAE or Israel and Morroco no Nobel for that stunt.

Israel and the Palestinians are not exactly golf buddies and moving our embassy to Jerusalem was needed but it should have been done as part of some permanent solution of the Palestinian issue.

You would have to convince me that the nuclear deal with Iran was really crappy though it could have been better yet Trump the self styled Uber negotiator claimed that he could have negotiated a great deal like no one has ever seen before. Well why didn't Mr. Negotiator do that?

I type with one finger so it is tired maybe I will refute your other points which are minor later.

I think you're wrong there. It was, his shall I say, unique personality that turned off independents voters. After four years they just grew tired of his childish antics like name calling and throwing temper tantrums, of his third grade schoolyard bullying tactics. All of that grated on them for four years. The results is this group of voters went to Biden big time, 54-41 over Trump. Trump had won independents in 2016 46-42 over Hillary Clinton giving him the White House. That's a swing of 17 points against Trump.

It wasn't his policies or what he did or didn't do as president, it was his obnoxious persona. Independents were fairly split on his policies, for some, against some, indifferent to others. It was that Biden came across as the adult in the room whereas Trump was seen as that four year old spoiled brat. He's not even man enough, adult enough to admit he lost.

If Trump had the personality of a Reagan, even a Bill Clinton or Obama, he'd probably cruise to reelection. Independents just tired of his very unpresidential behavior. It was Trump's personality that did him in. Independents don't pay much attention to the daily grind of politics in general. Quite a lot of them decide who they vote for based on whether they like the candidate, Reagan was very likeable and won in landslides or their dislike of a candidate. Hillary Clinton was one of those who was easy to dislike due to being seen as aloof and elitist. Trump beat her and Trump won the independent vote in 2016.

Biden was a likeable guy outside of coming across as an adult vs a candidate that acted like an unruly child. Biden was the opposite of Hillary Clinton personality wise. It wasn't Biden's policies that won for him, it was a rejection of Trump's childish behavior. This election was all about Trump, not so much about Biden. It was an election where folks voted against Trump and then voted Republican down ballot allowing them to pick up at least 13 house seats, pick up state legislatures and a governorship.

According to the exit polling, at least 5 million voters voted for Biden or against Trump, then voted Republican for all the down ballot offices. Perhaps you need to ask why? This election wasn't an endorsement or a rejection of either party's ideals, policies, etc. It certainly wasn't a mandate either, it was a vote for the status quo in every office outside of the presidency.

If not for the loss of the presidency, the Republicans would be crowing about the results of this election.

There is no arguing that one has to hold one's nose listening to Trump speak but can you name one media report outside FOX that posted a positive article about him in 3 years? The media ran the Biden campaign.

I have never found Biden to be likable. I see him as in the same role for the DNC that Lindsay Graham plays for the GOP. They are the growlers, the ones that stomp their feet because they are so morally outraged. What he is now is a bridge to connect the old guard DNC and the new radical left. I'm still trying to understand what in the hell possessed the Democrats to select Biden to run. I do see Obama in a major role among the Democrat faithful. Obama 3?

But what sector, exactly? He is popular in Utah so his seat is secure. I don't think he'll be trying to run for president again.

I respect Romney, but I disagree with his conclusion. He mentioned that he voted with President Trump eighty percent of the time. I see that as no cause to switch parties and complicate his conscience far more than not having voted to impeach the President (when all else weighed against him) might have done. He is a good man and a good American, imo, and should remain where he is.

Naw. Were that true he'd have listened to his advisers and made nice with his adversaries. Instead he pushed back at every opportunity and refused to curtsy and bow to political correctness.

Hmm, well, I'd say Biden looked like a safe choice to defeat Trump. He's was basically most Democrats second choice. Sanders and Warren couldn't in my opinion. Most Americans wouldn't vote for a self avowed socialist and mark my word, if Sanders won the nomination, he be tarred and feathered with TV ads with Sanders himself stating he's a Democratic Socialist. Warren was way too far left for most independents and she had that same aloof, elitist aura around her Hillary Clinton had.

Socialism and Atheism Still U.S. Political Liabilities

    https://news.gallup.com/poll/285563/socialism-atheism-political-liabilities.aspx

Amy Klobuchar was probably the best candidate to oppose Trump, but she gained no traction and the DNC really didn't want her. It isn't what you or I think about Biden, whether or not we like him, but most independents did like him, at least compared to Trump and his unique personality.

43% of independents liked Biden as a person, 34% disliked him regardless of what one thought about his policies. Question 47. Only 23% of independents liked Trump, 61% disliked him as a person. Question 54

    https://docs.cdn.yougov.com/nzc8dt85gn/econTabReport.pdf

history shows that folks usually don't vote for someone they dislike. There were probably plenty of independents who disliked both candidates as happened in 2016. Biden had a bland personality, more or less not threatening, he acted like an adult, like what most folks expected a presidential candidate to act and behave as. Trump just spent four years acting and behaving more like a spoiled child who didn't always get his own way. Bland was good compared to the later. Especially among independents who rarely follow politics.

I've long said about 2016, that almost any other Democratic candidate other than Hillary Clinton would have beaten Trump in 2016. I think the opposite holds true for 2020, almost any other Republican would have beaten Biden. Trump lucked out having Clinton as his opponent in 2016 as the midterms of 2018 and this years election proved. Without Clinton on the ballot to save him or the Republicans, the GOP took a licking in 2018 and Biden won by some 8 million votes.

Yet, Biden's blandness if there is such a word His blandness, an asset against Trump, but a hindrance in all the down ballot races which the GOP won. Biden had no coat tails, he failed to deliver one down ballot Democrat which is the norm for someone winning by the margin Biden won by. In fact, Biden became the first presidential candidate to win the popular vote on his way to the presidency while losing house seats since 1884. That just doesn't happen, but it did this year.

I really don't think it mattered who Democrats ran. More people voted for not Trump than for Joe Biden. When and if Trump finally accepts the election results it will be really interesting to see who the new President is. Biden or ???. I don't really believe Biden is choosing his Cabinet. I would rather be wrong than right about that but don't think I am.

The exit polls shows you're right. Approximately 38 million voters voted against a candidate, not really for a candidate. That's 24% of all vote cast for the presidency. Biden received 68% of that 38 Million who voted against Trump, not necessarily for Biden, Trump received 30% of those 38 million who voted against Biden, but not necessarily for Trump. So out of Biden's 81 million votes, 26 million were against Trump. Out of Trump's 74 million, only 11 million were against Biden. So Biden indeed won the anti vote. The rest were for their candidate or wanted their candidate to win.

    https://www.cnn.com/election/2020/exit-polls/president/national-results

But whether or not one is voting for a candidate or against a candidate, all votes count the same. Biden seems to picking folks for his cabinet from those he knew as VP and some as a senator. I for one, always believed any president should have whoever he wants in his cabinet. Whether it's a good cabinet or a bad one, time will tell.
