The Mufti didn't want genocide.. He wanted the flood of refugees to stop. The US, UK and Cuba had all turned them away.

The situation in Syria is far from over and if a peaceful solution can be achieved I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to admit I was wrong.

There are still several U.S. Carrier Groups in and around Syria....watching and waiting.

Finally something I can agree with you. You most definitely have not got the clue what is going on in the world's politics.

Since we will never find out, if that would be true, all I can say is I doubt it.
Sure, the Arab oil countries will get rich and mighty and could bring America to its knees and have them beg for mercy. But at the same time they would beg America to buy their oil. You Americans don't have to be so brutal and ruthless to them.
On the other hand you worry that Russia would get mightier and take over the police role of the world, if you would stop bullying.
Politics is never a straight forward game, but it revolves always around power and resources.

I thought we are done with that false statement attributed to Iranians. Stop flagging the dead horse. The whole statement was distorted only to be used against Iran. Honest people call it dirty propaganda. Be man enough, and at least acknowledge it.

    Lost in translation

Experts confirm that Iran's president did not call for Israel to be 'wiped off the map'. Reports that he did serve to strengthen western hawks.

I have observed that justice is a malleable concept when applied to both diplomacy and realpolitik.

I agree. OTOH, the road travelled is not nearly as important as the destination, even if the journey is the reward.

These kind of rhetorical contradictions can be as absurd as they are amusing, but are hardly rare. I find them to be distressingly common whenever the recipe calls for politics, religion and history.

Hardly restricted to levant. The scars of that era are still prominent in many a land. I believe you live in one such place.

Hmmm. I was under the impression that Britain was desperately looking for a "way out" since their war wounds were not healing very well and one of the very last thing they needed was to continue to bleed in the middle of a bunch angry comitted jews and angry outraged arabs. WW2 killed the empire.

IIRC, Britain's acceptance of 181 (as the mandate authority) did not make it binding international law. UNGA 181 was a non binding general resolution.

Britain's mandate was that of a conqueror defined by the treaty of lausanne et.al. The conquerors voluntarily imposed certain restrictions on their authority over the regions of their mandates, but as I understand it, their decisions were not viewed as binding international law.

    That is incorrect Margot.
He wanted to ensure the destruction of any jewish state in palestine.
He wanted to assist in solving the "jewish problem".
He willingly supported Hitlers declared intention (directly to Husseni) that the jews would be hunted down and destroyed.
He spent much of the war in Berlin. He even gave radio broadcasts urging the arabs to rise up and kill the jews where ever they were to be found.

You are correct that he wanted to stem the immigration tide. Of course that is an entirely seperate issue.

I am suprised you do not know this.

Check your facts more closely. We know he met with Hitler on Nov 30th 1941... Not much else is known.

Avraham Stern also proposed a military alliance between Zionists and Nazis.

Actually if you had "checked your facts" more closely you would have found that there are three seperate accounts of that meeting written by attendees, including one of the mufti's aides.

A considerable amount is known about Al-husseni, including the fact that a number of the "stories" surrounding the Mufti, such as visiting auschwitz incognito with Himmler and Eichmann were fabrications. that does not at all detract from the hard facts that the guy was a raging jew hater who welcomed, encouraged, schemed and admired the goosesteppers and their perverse intent to destroy all jews.

Again, I am surprised you do not know these historical facts, given your interests and perspectives.

I am also well aware of the ridiculous and desperate attempt of a couple of idiot zionists to get hitler to release euro jews for them to fight the British in palestine. Also the financial attempts (partially successful before 39) to buy some jews out of europe.

Of course. The US Navy alone assures that with the no. of lives it saves at sea each year although I am sure you were talking about more then that.

None of the people coming on this board with the anti-Jew agenda can change what the US did for Israel and in particular what Eleanor Roosevelt and then Harry Truman did.

Roosevelt spent 3 years of her life fighting the Western World and US who had turned its back on the Jews of Europe after WW2. The woman's role in creating Israel can not be erased. She saved thousands if not millions of Jewish lives.

As for Truman, this is a man like many Americans who grew up with many prejudices against Jews, blacks, and so on-they would have been a natural part of the values of the day.No one would have thought much about them.

What Truman did though was challenge his stereotypes of Jews including the comments he had made. He allowed Roosevelt to change his mind because he was not afraid to listen to a woman in an era when woman were not listened to. He not only was secure enough to debate with a woman, he was secure enough to recognize his own prejudices and challenge them.

Truman did what few can do. He challenged and changed his negative stereotypes.

No one can re-write that strength or legacy. He is a hero to Jews, a hero to Americans.

This is a man who had to make some of the toughest decisions of World War Two and step in and deal with Stalin and Churchill and mediate the 2 and prevent a continuing war with the Soviets after WW2. This is a man who prevented a nuclear disaster in Korea and took down a highly popular general who disobeyed direct orders and almost triggered a third world war and nuclear war.

Truman's integrity, strength, conviction can not be sullied by Jack Napier's pathetic attempt to pull some quotes out of context.

The United States is Israel's most loyal ally and as good a friend as Canada can ask for.

Israel today is a leader in computer and military technology in alliance with the US its to each other's equal benefit and Canada's economic ties with the US are of immense benefit to both.

The US is open and upfront about its alliances and Israel could not have survived without it and the US has many economic tie ins with Canada. Sure maybe Israel and Canada can both be said to be too dependent on the US but its up to both countries to do something about that. No one in the US forced us to have these alliances.

The double standard that if China or Russia have allies its ok but if the US does, somehow that is evil is a pile of crap.

As a Canadian I want one person on this forum to try argue having Iran or Syria next door as our neighbour would be better than the US.

If the US is so evil, how does China manage to engage in world wide predatory pricing, create deficit trade balances with every country it deals with and has destroyed the free market system and not a peep from the same people who try pee on the US?

If the US is so evil why is it we in Canada manage to do so much business with the US and benefit from that alliance? We have an undefended border with the US, the longest undefended border in the world. We have serious differences over certain free trade matters, fisheries, sovereign rights up North, tariffs on lumber and our current Prime Minister is not happy with Obama for turning down an oil pipeline.

Disputes arise. I can't remember the US threatening to invade us well except when New York Yankees fans come into Toronto to watch a ball game.

That is the bottom line-you Yanks have your problems. We Canadians think you are nuts over lack of gun control or refusing medicare, but a better ally no one could have.

There was a time when you Yanks tried to invade us and we kicked your butts. Then we decided to invade Hollywood and you did not resist. Its all cool but your beer stinks.

    No.

Please stop derailing threads with this Mufti BS.

    Here is the broad topic;

Iran's response to Israel's latest threats

Is it too much to ask that this be discussed?

    - - - Updated - - -

    Correct.

The thread is not about me.

Is this hard for you to grasp, or shall we ask the formal position?

No it was in December of 1940. Stern did not represent anyone but himself. The organization he was a member of, the Irgun stated it would suspend all operations against Britain for the duration of WW2 and encouraged all its members to go fight with the British. The Irgun never amounted to more than 250 people.

As for Stern and his Lehi group you have any idea how many people he commanded? Try 10 or so.

You want to portray him as the representative of the Zionists. Don't be silly. He was an extremist idiot who prior to finding out Hitler was engaging in the holocaust tried to contact him to make an alliance that said, you let all Jews come to Israel, we will not support the British.

Stern was dismissed immediately by everyone in the Zionist movement.

Some Zionists had made contact with Mussolini before the war as well trying to forge an alliance.

Trying to suggest this meant Zionism was allied with the Nazis or Italy is absurd.

In fact it becomes more absurd because how could you even suggest this when you know the Mufti of Jerusalem was a guest of Hitler for WW2 and played a major role in the extermination of Jews in Germany and made daily broadcasts urging the Muslim world to wipe out Jews everywhere?

How do you try suggest Zionists were in alliance with Hitler when Egypt, Iraq and Syria were openly neo Nazi regimes applauding and supporting his efforts?

The Phelangistes in Syria were pro Mussolini and Hitler and Vichy, France.

In fact during WW2 Zionists suspended all operations and joined the British armed forces in their war in Northern Africa alongside Australians, British, Arabs, Indians and other British commonwealth members.

You can't change history by trying to suggest Stern represented the Zionists of that day. He did not. He was unanimously rejected as an extremist moron.

Yep. It starts with just one person, one person just like you giggling. Forest fires start with one tiny spark Jack or in your case a giggle.

I have seen people murdered in street wars that started off with one giggle Jack.

Inmy world Jack giggles put people in body bags.

I doubt however you can grasp that concept Jack and please,aI don't want to make you wet your pants with any more giggles.

The letter as dated January 21,1941 but was drafted in December of 1940 when it was orally passed on to Nazis. The letter came after. But its neither here nor there to the point we are discussing.

Stern was an extremist terrorist. He was rejected even by Irgun who were no angels.

Have you not yet learned that to the jew haters when they point to the actions of a single jew that supports some ignorant and hateful opinion they so generously want to share, they consider those actions as an indictment of all jews.

Of course when you use the same tactic and suggest that the genocidal, inhumane, sociopathic actions of the nazi represent the wet dreams of all jew haters, they get their knickers in such a knot that their indignation comes across as amusing little squeaks.

the fact that the OP posts an Iranian source accsuing Israel of lying about Iran's nuclear ambitions is amusing. Its yet another example of jewhaters posting anything that is negative about Israel as the unquestionable truth and anything that Israel says is an obvious lie while anything they do is a crime.

I've been told that life is much simpler and decisions much easier in the binary black and white world they live in. Nuance, context, equivalency, etc are such annoying concepts when applied to political discussion, wot?
