I am all for the First Amendment. Indeed, the First Amendment is one of the things Americans can legitimately take pride in. But, alas, it is not enough. In analyzing the 'market place of ideas' in the US, like analyzing any other market for its competitiveness, it is also relevant to see if there are monopolies and monopolistic forces which have emerged that preclude certain worthy ideas from having a legitimate chance to emerge and gain footing. In this regard, the US is rather worse than most other places in the world, even Iran. If Iran officially censors certain ideas, it is nonetheless true that the true reach of its censorship even in Iran is still limited by the dominance of western media and its reach and influence even here. Thus, it doesn't matter that much on the availability view points if certain sites are officially blocked in Iran; a simple VPN and the myriad of anti-filter programs that are used by everyone in Iran means that people in Iran are in fact exposed to not only the more meritorious information available from them but also the propaganda that they often spew. It is a similar story with broadcast media, where satellite dishes dominate the top of every building in Iran and people here end up actually getting to see what is broadcast outside. In America, on the other hand, the monopoly and monopolistic forces that have emerged dominate the media markets to such an extent that in practice, few Americans are interested to see or hear anything other than the messages that ultimately are approved by their overlords. With certain practices which have emerged to blacklist and drive underground certain dissident views relating to Israel in particular, and the daily dose of propaganda that is fed by those who follow the agendas of the military industrial complex or have been already converted to the prejudices which they have tried to instill, the end result is that not only the vast majority of Americans are rather ignorant and clueless about the world around them. But even the minority that is supposedly aware is frankly only better indoctrinated.

Here, the image carefully cultivated against Iranian society illustrates the point. People who visit here (and you can google and check this for yourself) are invariably shocked. They ask how can Iran be so different in practically every way than the image that is portrayed of the country in the West? As a corollary to that question: they are forced to examine with that means about their own political and media institutions, and whether - despite the First Amendment - is offers them any real guidance about the world they live in?

On the other hand, most Iranians here if anything have a far more favorable view of the US and the west than warranted by facts. Which is why many who do emigrate, almost all from secular westernized backgrounds, end up nonetheless feeling very underwhelmed by what they actually see in America. Not that America is terrible necessarily, but if you talk to them, they will tell you it is nothing all that special either.

I appreciate your response but regardless of access to information in Iran we can still understand their treatment of women, Gays, and the monopoly of Islam, just to name a few..

Not even on those points, or not quite as you imagine.

Iran is a very complicated country and it can easily be confusing too. That doesn't mean the answers which have emerged on many of these points in Iran are valid and don't need to be reexamined or often entirely replaced. But rather that the core of those answers from Iran include a recognition that Iran ultimately has too many people who would not be content living in a real theocracy and it is wiser if they are, in practice, left alone to do as they wish. With the theocracy showing its relevance in the cultural arena by focusing merely on the window dressing. Not more.

You're actually "sad " that anybody should bother to bring an extra 12 million dead people to the public attention ?
Nobody but a sympathy-harvester for neoZionism could hold such an opinion.

Nice try Dobbs, there was and still is hatred of Black people all over these United States. More to the point, my hatred of Jews is my hatred of how you Jews wish to use others, including Black people, as political pawns. My dislike and hatred has to do with your continuous malevolence towards Muslim, which I am one. As the last prophet who came to your people stated in a comment, Why point out the speck of sawdust in another's eye, while ignoring the PLANK in your own? As I stated yesterday and will state again today, no one can be held accountable for the actions of another. A Man can only be held accountable for his own actions.
As I stated above, no one can be held accountable for the behaviors of another. Your libelous and slanderous accusations account for nothing. Prove that I have bigotry towards women, non-Muslims, children, homosexuals and Jews. You have not nor will you ever be able to accomplish such a feat. Everyone who has been following this thread knows that I disapprove of homosexuality, because I have stated such in this forum and in other forums of this website. Your madness is a continuation of people such as yourself promoting themselves as the champions of others, to gain support for whatever you seek support for. I do not engage in such frivolous lunacy being that I have the ability to stand on my own, regardless to whom or what. As for the Benevolent Order of Elks, you obviously do not know their history. This link is not to disparage The B.P.O.E. this is just to show what a dishonest malevolent Jinn engages in in his attempts to engage in showmanship: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Benevolent_and_Protective_Order_of_Elks#Race.2FSex_issues
As it has been said in the past, you have to wake up very early in the morning to battle a Man such as myself.

Iranian, it is what is called pragmatic diplomacy to let people to their own accord in certain situations, of course this is coming from what I have observed from many rulers worldwide, including in these United States of [North] America. Coming from my perspective, in keeping with Freedom, Justice, Equality, and Independence, it is best to leave people to their own devices. If a person's behaviors ill-effect a significant portion of the whole, the whole will respond, if they do not, they will have to deal with the consequences at a later time. It is not about might nor power, but the "Spirit" of Freedom that is the overall experience of the community/nation (Ummat). See, there is more to Islam than people actually realize, which is why Muhammad was taught by Jabril that there in no compulsion in Islam, or the ways of peaceful existence. You cannot force anyone to to anything, outside of yourself. Many attempt to and confuse the despotic behaviors of those in the Occidental experience with everyone else's. This includes the impostures who are now in the East, which is why they cannot comprehend what Islam is about.

Addendum to set the record straight in regards to my agenda, which is my desire:
The comments and behavior of Fred C. Dobbs is an example of the agenda to stifle thinking and freedom in any given society. To oppose another person’s points of view and observations are one thing, but to seek to gain division by surreptitious meaningless diatribe is another matter altogether. Fred’s entire agenda is diverting attention away from the underhanded dealings and manipulations of Zionists and Talmudic Jews by focusing on issues that most people have been groomed to view as negatively divisive. For instance, homosexuality; it is neither wrong nor wrong to hold an opposing view of that, which a person deems to be immoral; it is a matter of moral standard. To view morality as “evil” is tantamount to the destruction of the fabric which holds societies together. It is morality, even the partial application of morality and the standards and traditions of said societies, that the same societies are based upon which hold cohesiveness of societies together, for every society needs agreements between the populations of the given society for to continue. It is the destruction of these agreements that lead to societal collapse. Is it the desire of Fred and people like him to seek the collapse of societies? It is my desire to support the cohesiveness of societies, even those in which I have severe disagreement with, for it is the society of those whom the agreement was and is made for that is the initial compact that enables the societies to exist. It is not my goal to seek the destruction of another people’s society, but to build one of my own with like-minded people. If I had an established society, I would not want another people to destroy that which was built for me and my people, for I am not an imperialist.

Low risk when they can only run
We lot made 700,000 run or we lot 600,000 would have to run, that's what was at stake in the ethic war the Arabs initiated, the alternative was 181 division and peacful living, rejecting it ment someone will be moved, Arabs moved, end of story.

If you want to blame some divinity in it, blame God for making the Arabs so blind and arrogant, that was their downfall.

Rejecting it, never ment that anybody had to move. You're just making up excuses why war crimes like ethnic cleansing is perfectly alright.
Oh yeah. It's the Israeli Jewish way to blame the victims, those almost 800.000 civilians got ethnic cleansed and got their property thieved. It is like hearing from a serial rapist saying she asked for it.

referring to the holocaust as a 'sympathy harvest'? Supporting groups like Hamas and Hezbollah? That's quite a resume, moon. What are you smoking?

The Holocaust- remember- is the general term for the Nazi fascists' murder of approximately 18 million people. Approximately one-third of those victims were Jewish . Nobody should ever refer to the Holocaust as an exclusively-Jewish catastrophe. That's termed the Shoah.

Hamas and Hizb'allah are listed as ' terrorist ' organisations by the political states that they oppose- not by anybody else. The Nazis called the French Resistance ' terrorists '- but we know that they were simply resisting fascism. Nelson Mandela was called a ' terrorist '- but we know that he was simply resisting apartheid.
    Careful with that axe, Eugene.

No ? so what are all those stories the bad Jews came from their boats and stole Arab land ? think they would just stop killing Jews and respected their property if they won ? try honesty this time.
No it's Arab whinning to declare war and b!tch for decades after, Jews also got ethnic cleansed from parts of Palestine during 1947-8 war, also from Arab countries - we dont b!tch about it, we act and we see the future not the past.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say even though Hamas apparently just rescinded their call for the destruction of Israel, your support for them, Hezbollah, and your attempt to devalue the loss of the Jewish people during the holocaust by semantic jokes and ridiculous absurd meaningless 'logic' qualifies you as a radical.

It always puzzles me when people betray their own kind in such a fashion. I'm just glad that they caught the guy. And there are many, like white liberals, who speak of racism by whites and Police when there is none. These kind run free to mislead, divide, disturb the peace and create havoc. To me, these are far worse than the Israeli bomb threat guy.

I find it exceptional stereotypical you lot come up with arguments why it is perfectly alright to commit genocides and ethnic cleanse around when Jews do that to Palestinians. The thing is Gilos, that the bad Jews came with their boats to thieve the land of Arabs, since the Jew God thinks it's alright to even commit genocide to accomplish that. Hence the Jews are still at it today.

The only people crying their little eyes out are the Jews with their "oh why do they hate us so much when we ethnic cleanse, we want to live in "peace". Or the why doesn't the UN respect our culture that we get to ethnic cleanse and thieve the land our God promised to us... freaking total BS that this new resolution passed against us. To the genius one of I got a knife sticking in my neck, and I dunno why. Honestly.

You lot massacred plenty of town, and buldozered them flat so a return of the people who fled for genocide was made impossible. You lot than made it the law an Arab can not return, because it's not a Jew. To than make it the law, that property of people who can't return get thieved away. That's how you Jews committed genocide and ethnic cleansed Palestinians.

There is no point in trying to rewrite history, because you can not. I know there is a strong Jewish voice in Israel to lock people up who mention this. Fascism at it's finest.

We didnt massacre plenty of town, there was one - deir yassin, I can counter that with Kfar Ezion massacre, towns that accepted Israel remained intact, those that fought - got flat, they moved to what could have been "Palestine".
And "Genocide" means 700,000 dead Arabs , not 700,000 refugees, you cant compare voices in Israel to Arab laws in their countries thou it is amusing that Arab dictatorships lecture us on freedom, give it another try.

The only reason you were left with some indiginous people was because not all Zionists obeyed the orders of ethnic cleansing. One of the most well known being Ben Dunkelman who saved the people of Nazareth from being massacred/deported

    https://canadatalksisraelpalestine....nadian-who-saved-nazareth-really-take-a-look/

    - but wait, Nazareth was never supposed to be an Israel town - still the order was out for it to be subject to ethnic cleansing as Israel built up her enlarged state which would keep her going 'for the time being'

and of course you now talk about the hatred of Israel Jews towards the arab population. Not all of course but sure going that way. Most Israeli Jews do not believe their Christian and Muslim citizens should have equal rights and a majority of the right want to expel all Christians and Muslims from the country.

    http://mondoweiss.net/2016/03/most-jews-want-to-expel-palestinians-pews-ugly-portrait-of-israel/

You know that is not true Gilos as we have discussed this before. Even your favourite new historian, Benny Morris accounts for more than 12 Israeli massacres- far, far more than the Arabs three - two of which were in response to a previous Zionist one. (I have seen estimates of around 20 Zionist massacres of Arabs)

    http://www.crimesofwar.org/a-z-guide/arab-israeli-war/

As always Israel is trying to present itself as being particularly moral while dehuminising the Arabs. History has shown you this is not so but you still will not admit it.

There are 126 Arab towns and villages in Israel, Ben Dunkelman must have been very busy running all over the place.

The table in you link says at first that 48% of "all Jews" support transfer (?) vs. 47% that object, then the second table shows the opposite where 63% "of Jews" by political agenda reject Transfer vs. 37% that support it - so which is it ?

At worst case we just become as hatful to Arabs as the Arabs are toward us, ask them if thet are willing to share their country with Jews and lets see if they scratch the 47%.

Oh please, we both read him and he counted "Massacres" of 10 - 12 ppl in isolated incidents, the Arabs murederd Jews in same numbers, I accept responsibilty and you lie on your behalf so dont lecture me , Lod was not a massacre the resident fought and died I read the massacre accusations and I read the soldiers testimonies, its just another Arab propaganda.
notme talked about massacred whole villages and you surf on same wind of lies.
I didnt present Israel as "particularly moral" and I didnt "dehuminise" any Arab, you are in deep denial mode and you take no responsibilty on Arab actions while I do take on the Jewish part, you are compleatly baised, very hateful and utterly blind to serve as any kind of objective judge on history - which also make your decisions on presnt day issues very flawed. you also blame Israel for the rise of extreme right in Europe which borders with paranoid lunacy...
