It happened after Germany invaded the USSR (or right before this invasion and anyway because of it) and in times when the USA and GB had plans to destroy the USSR ('Unthinkable'). When coups or revolts in these countries took place not only the soviet troops could help the regime. If there was no request - there was no interference.

I don't mind the attitude or relationship. But we had agreements between the US and Russia. And we had it for the world safety in general and for our mutual safety in particular. From my viewpoint the 'protection' is just an accumulation of the US army in a dangerous (for us) proximity to our borders. NATO is an aggressive alliance. It's main aim of existence is to kill us all. This is why I just don't trust the story about 'protection'. I regard this activity (and what is more important my state regards it) as a military build up, threatening and potential triggering of nuclear war.

This is a lie. When the countries wanted off the soviet bloc they went out. When France (under de Gaulles) wanted out of NATO the coup got rid of de Gaulles. :) Pratice proves you wrong. You confuse what countries want with what propaganda told. There were several attempts of civil disorder in eastern European countries. In some cases they were fixed with the help of army. Like in Sharlottesville last year. If something like that happened in Russia propaganda would tell about 'peaceful protesters and despotic regime which uses cruelty against democracy etc. But since it happened in the US - it was a different story.

A decade ago we finished to mark the border with China for the first time in our history. Before that there used to be 'flexible' border which was regulated by treaties dated back to 18-19th century. At the moment the relationship between China and Russia are growing and bettering. There is no threat from China for a long time. It will only change if something changes dramatically. For now we are partners and i wish we could make the same partnership with 'the west'. But it will require a couple of decades even if it starts today. For now the relationship with the west is worsening. And it is not the choice of Russia.

And in both cases it happened after western activity and NATO activity in particular. When there was no NATO and US puppets Russia didn't make any military moves towards these countries. In fact the more aggressive moves NATO makes in eastern European countries the more threat and risks these countries are getting. Reaction of Russia is natural and I can't blame it. If Russia or China would set military bases in Cuba, Mexico and Canada I wouldn't blame the US for sharp political and military moves against these countries.

Security is a good thing, but when I hear invasion and attack I think of US blatant military aggression and covert CIA sabotage. (I know the contemporary forms of the KGB also engage in such actions). I recently heard that the states of the world consider the US the # 1 major threat to world peace; and I think Israel was second. Quadaffi and Iraq gotta be invasions with a capital I, no?
