I'm not sure which is more barbaric - sex with 9 year-olds, or chopping off hands/feet per Qur'an 5:33. The one who spoke to Eve was referred to as nahash, Satan is referred to as the "shining one" in the Bible, and if you read the story in Genesis Eve clearly speaks to "nahash" with respect and the grammar is as one speaking to someone they consider superior.

The majority of humans are religious, so the majority of humans do indeed believe that those fairy tales are real - or of course they'd modify them before endorsing the book and giving it to their children as the "best book of all time, from god no less!". They can't even muster the moral courage of Modern Secular Humanists - their book still says to kill gays and that (say, Hindus) don't get into heaven.

 

"GOD" would know said better future standard of course, so if god picked me as the best role model for all time (like he allegedly did for Jesus, and in Islam for Mohammad), and I then discovered that god screwed up, then yes, I'd say "god, dude, you screwed up by picking me".
