    anybody who wants a war needs to sign up and march off to war rather than wait for others to do their fighting for them

    You do not need a drafted army to deal with an actual threat. You need a WILLING one.

    ....so,who is willing? Why should some serve for citizens that don't or want serve?

    It doesn't matter who's willing or who doesn't want to serve. Why should it matter to you?

    So long as our military can recruit enough people, any further requirement than "Registering with selective service" should be enough. Once registered, your basically eligible to be called on and frankly most young men do register.

    That said; Obligation to the Country, either by way of the military or some local civic organization (not political), would probably decrease the problems young folks seem to have today. Maybe some form of internship with any number of operations that would join in such a project.

    Oh, I do have a problem with releasing those that do join, then become obese or whatever. It would seem that once enlisted, the person is the responsibility of the service, at least for the time they originally enlisted for...
