Manning looked rusty. but I think Denver will compete for the AFC title.

I'm actually going with the raiders if McFadden can stay healthy. Their 2 at large games are Miami and Jacksonville. Denver has to play Houston and New England.

Drawing the AFC West and South for the at large this year is a huge benefit for the Raiders. Denver as division Champ has to play the champs from those divisions but the Raiders get to play the 3rd because the Charger held the tie breaker and the 3rd teams in those divisions suck.

For those of you who don't know the way schedules work in the NFL is that you play your own division twice, 6 games. One division in your own conference once, 4 games. One division in the other conference once, 4 games. And then 2 other divisions last years 1s play teacher others then the 2s etc etc, 2 games. So its not random and drawing those 2 top heavy divisions really helps the Raiders.

It's time to do some trash talking. The season hasn't even started and already we have to listen to New England Patriot fans spout about how they're gonna do this & do that and I for one am gonna remind "youse" who exactly is the defending NFL World Champion...it's the New York Giants, of course!
While it's true, the Pats are favored, and rightfully so, to represent the junior circuit again in the Super Bowl - Really now, how big of a deal would that be? You got two aging defenses & flawed offenses in the North, a nice upcoming team in the South(Brady vs. Schaub, most likely in Foxboro, on the big stage? I don't think so!) and the Denver Pretenders in the West(much like they were last year). The rest of the lEast ain't even really worth mentioning. I don't see much comp for the Pats in the AFC.
The New York football Giants, on the other hand, have their hands full if they are gonna have a chance to defend their crown in the Super Bowl. I, for one, think they can do it again. If they stay healthy, which is a big if for any SB hopeful. But it won't be easy, which is fine by me. It'll make slapping around the Pats, again, that much easier. In fact, who ever does survive the NFC, will most likely kick the crap outta NE, welcoming the Patsies to the senior circuit.
So, Patriot fans, enjoy your 14-2 season, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that jackpot at the end of the rainbow, you just might get a JPP pop in the mouth instead.

NE fans are passionate however we tend to be the first to criticize what we see as flaws. Fans knew we had issues in the secondary and no running game. We weren't kidding ourselves. We're jacked over the infusion of SEC players (best darn college football conference by the way) and the prospect of a running game gives us reason to hope. We still have Brady and sitting in the wings is one of the best QB's to come out of the SEC (best darn college football conference) so there is even hope for the future.

But we know our flaws and cringe when we see teams exploit them. Also, we have one of the best coaches ever to stand on the turf

sec is right that we Pats' fans knew there were problems in the secondary last year and defensive stats proved it. All I can say for now is that the Patriots will not only win the super bowl this year, but will go on to create and relish a long standing dynastry for the 60-year-old Bill Billicheck for years to come. Knowing that most of the nation hates the N.Y. Jets and the N.Y. Giants combined gives me plenty of spunk for the upcoming season. Its nice to know that the Patriots have been officially designated as "America's Team".

"...most of the nation hates the N.Y.Jets and the N.Y.Giants combined..."???
I don't think so. Me thinks your projecting your hatred of New York teams on the nation. And if the Pats are the new "America's Team", it is only because of the level of hatred for them has reached what used to be reserved for the Dallas Cowboys.

NE fans aren't the only passionate fans. Living here in Colorado, I have to listen to Bronco crap year round. It didn't come from you, but I've been listening(reading) about what the Pats were gonna do & so I just had to let loose. And yes, we all know the SEC is the best conference & I'm not writing off their chances of having a team in the championship game. But one would think that one of these years, the depth of the conference would catch up. Maybe this is the year.

One positive note about your postings here, and no it has nothing to do about the nation's disgust with any and all N.Y. teams, rather, it has to do with your seemingly right pick of Conservatism over Socialism with the reading of your signatures. Now if we could only get you on the bandwagon of the greatest quarterback of all time (Brady) and with their start of this dynasty--then we may have quite a bit in common going forward.

Sorry, but I can't stand the Pats, or most Boston teams for that matter. I actually rooted for the Pats back in the mid Eighties, but now they're right up there with the Steelers, Broncos & Raiders for teams I actively root against. As a life long Laker fan, you must know what I think of the Celtics. I don't much care for the Red Sox, but at least we can unite in our hatred of the blasted Yankees(I'm a Met fan & am sure you don't much care for them either). I really don't have much of a feeling for the Bruins either way, but I do like their goalie(politics, you know). So, we can unite in our politics & hatred for the Yankees at least. I will say that I admire the Pats for the way they run their organization, but I cannot root for them. Oh by the way, I'm originally from Connecticut, a N.Y./Boston battleground state.

I wish I had your confidence in the SEC this year but I don't know. I predict the Dawgs to be the SEC champs this year but with 2 losses won't go the national championship

USC is the team to beat

After the fiasco that was the end of the 2011 AFC championship game I can no longer stand the Pats either.

So much for the Great and Magnificent TO. OVERRATED. Was a good competitor, but was never really FAST, not like Calvin Johnson, or Vincent Jackson, who are FAST, BIG AND can JUMP....

I'm with you. Vegas odds have Pats winning the super bowl with Green Bay as a close second.

The World Champion New York football Giants kick off the 2012-2013 NFL season tonight!
Some team from Texas, the SMU Mustangs or whatever, is the sacrificial lamb for the night.
Boy, do I like typing that phrase...The World Champion New York football Giants!

After tonight's loss I'm wondering if you think the giants will make the playoffs this year?

With the Giants, it's always hit or miss. Last season, they were one Romo to Miles Austin pass completion(it was an overthrow) away from watching the playoffs on TV. Like I've stated in other posts, the Giants in any given time & during any given season, will look like the best or worst team in the league. I work evenings, so I didn't even get to watch the game or see the highlights yet, but from what I could hear on the radio, their defense stunk & Victor Cruz couldn't hold onto the ball. It's only one game so we'll see. Making the playoffs or not, either way wouldn't surprise me.

Yeah, I watched most of the game and there is still hope with manning as he did throw a couple of long passes for completions. The giants defense against the run looks fairly solid, but its the defense against the pass that makes them look like the patriots of last year. The cowboys did surprise me, and romo looked good.
