Civil libertarians both on the left and right have criticized the issuance of National ID cards.
I am in favor of proceeding with one. Every adult would need to have one. It will be the responsibility of the state to give one and they will be supplied on a sliding income scale. This way dems can no longer say that the poor and minorities are being disenfranchised by making it difficult to vote (I am one of those) and Anti illegals immigration people will get one to stop Illegals from working. (I am also one of those) Counterfeiting charges will be assigned for tampering. Replacement cards can be 30 day temp type cards if proof of change of residence.

Democrats say IDs are racist because they believe black people are to dumb to get one.

Nothing that cost people money should be mandatory.

You pretty much say minorities are unable to pay for these IDs like a white person can, why do you think so low of minorities? If you had left it at "the poor", that's understandable for why they would get an ID for less.

What's wrong with the Govt issued IDs that already exist?

Democrats spew their racist crab everyday. They literally believe that you can't be racist toward certain races because of their race. That's why they get a pass for being racist towards white people .

Don’t we already have state issued IDs available? How will this be different?

I am not saying anything along those lines. This is the position of the Democratic party.

Even though it could be abused, the positives of a 'citizen ID' would outweigh the negatives, imo. It could be for voting, social security, buying firearms, taxes, and anything relating to civic duty. It should be public information, not something an alphabet agency controls. It would not have to be invasive, just qualify the person to receive citizen related rights and privileges.

It would avoid the duplication we see in the myriads of government agencies, and should expose any pretenders or frauds. By making citizenry public knowledge, any frauds can be exposed.

The public information can be minimal.. name, age, state of residency.. perhaps more.. that would be a good debate. Illegal aliens could be immediately exposed, and deported. Criminals could have more problems, if a citizen ID with a corroborating data base was used in critical transactions, such as firearm purchases, voting, etc. And if every citizen had access to verify identity, personal transactions, like selling firearms or other property could be made safely.

Unless you have REAL ID compliant with the standards set by the REAL ID ACT OF 2005 you will not be able to board a passenger plane in any U.S.Airport effective October 1,2020.

In exchange all congressional boundaries are to be redrawn by computer algorithms, FPTP is eliminated in all elections and the HOR must go back to proportional representation.

    Deal?

And the senate goes back to being elected by the state legislatures and not popular votes?

None of what I posted is mandated by the constitution. Yours is, the 17th.

Do you really want to go back to the mess that existed before the 17th?
Vacancies deadlocks and bribes were commonplace in that procedure...

You can still board with a passport as it is a “National ID.” People who don’t like big government should protest the requirement of a National ID but as we all know, republicans are hypocrites when it comes to this matter.

illegals can still get a 'real id' in certain states, ny for example only requires them to provide a birthcert from any country and a ny address to prove residence, it is marked as non-citizen real id... real citizens such as myself got an 'enhanced id' which states 'us citizen'

Depends on your definition of "working".

How about this, we trade the way the senate is elected to term limits for both houses?

it's time to put and end to career politicians, all the way down to local town officials/sheriffs... something on the order of no more than 2- 4 year terms during lifetime (for each position)

They are not mandatory, and no assistance is given in acquiring one and these will need to be tough to counterfeit, a lot tougher than a driver's license.

You can use a VALID U.S.passport as one of the two required I.D. required to obtain REAL I.D. but not to board a plane after October 1,2020, for that you MUST HAVE REALID.

Good luck with 100% compliance on that. Guaranteed to see “Papers please” campaigns.
