Driver licenses don't include proof of citizenship. They mostly determine residency.

 

Then what harm does a national ID card do, if all it does is to inhibit Illegal aliens being a drain. I mean if you want illegals to come here and be a drain, you would not want a card that only downside is that is makes it easier than it is already easy to vote democratic.

So, it it one more step and obstacle for them to overcome. I want to throw up as many blocks as we can. Like i said hacking an ID and having one is a felony, equivalent to knowingly passing counterfeit money for the illegal, and counterfeiting for the forger. If you can go to prison for 20 years for forging- how much money are you going to charge for one $2,000? $5,000? they are not going to be $100 no one is going to risk going to jail for $100. Barcodes on these things are going to be linked, you use it for employment, it gets swiped theinfo better match. You get pulled over, it better match.

 

Oh yes. Those pesky illegals are such a problem. Why they come here and steal jobs! Then they don't work and get on welfare. Exactly how they manage to do both simultaneously has never been explained to my satisfaction.

Yes, the scourge of cheaply mown lawns and cheaply weeded gardens must be addressed through a massive expansion of governmental power and intrusion into our lives.

I don't really have an issue with a national ID. I think it would be even better if you were required to have a national ID to vote in a federal election.

 

There should be a national ID, and it should be used to deny all benefits to non-citizens who do not have one.

Why can't you understand that illegal immigrants can do both some work and some mooch just like everyone else in the world. When they work they increase the un-skillled /semi skilled workforce that has the tendency to depress wages for the American citizen working poor and legal immigrants and they also take social money that should go to American poor and legal immigrant population.

No one has ever said to decrease or limit the amount of H2A visas. These migrant workers perform a valuable service to the US serving in the farm Industry. I rather pay .10 cents more a pound for chicken and see it go to legal immigrants and american poor. You also seem to think that every legal immigrant has a job and they are not being pushed out of the job market and on to the social service rolls. People can mow their own lawns and week their own gardens or pay 5 dollars an hour more to do so. 1 out of every 8 students in California schools have parents who are here illegally. How much more $ per legal and citizen child would that provide without any more aid from the taxpayer. Never mind healthcare/ food stamps etc.

Immigration has helped this country become as great as it is. I don't want to stop legal immigration, but I want them vetted and the ones that have skills allowed in first. Only then can the unskilled come in. When both sets of My grandparents came here before the first world war, they were already married in Portugal and the maternal side already had kids. Both Men came over and worked for 3 or 4 years before they were allowed to send for their wives, It was tough for them I am sure but they knew it was worth it.

People say illegals just do jobs that Americans don't want to do. That is crap. Illegals perform in and work at every job in the US.

 

And that is my point in getty the dems to go along with it. The Dems say some voter registration rules make it tougher on the poor to vote, this eliminates that. You are registered to vote when issued and a new one is issued you turn 18 and registered for selective service.

 

Of course employers should be punished, but right now the documentation that is being asked for at employment is easy to counterfeit or not effective. You get a driver's licence even if you are an illegal immigrant. You use somebody else's birth certificate and SS number and a gas bill in that name, you have a ID good enough to get a job.

Because the ease of getting forged documents to go with your drivers license makes the employer immune, It is not illegal to hire an illegal alien, if that alien produces documentation saying that he is legal. He can have 1/2 his workforce as illegals as long as he has completed an I-9.

As in everything else in this world it seems, no one thing is a fix, It needs to be a multi-pronged attack. A more secure border, better vetting, more money for enforcement, effective raids on business, more audits of businesses. more immigration judges.

Some State ID's aren't valid Nationally because of the standards they apply when issuing them.

For example, California issues ID's and Driver's Licenses to anyone breathing. Perhaps an exaggeration, but not far off.

Beginning 1/1/20, those ID's and DL's are not valid as identification for airline travel, etc. One has to apply for a "Real ID", which requires a birth certificate, Social Security #, and a third form of ID like a Utility Bill, etc.. If they can satisfy these requirements, they will be issued a "Real ID" which truly identifies the person.

A current FL driver's license would be pretty hard to counterfeit. It's got some very high tech features. It looks much harder to counterfeit than my passport, for example.

Nope. You must also register at the county courthouse. Both. Lack 1 you cannot vote in national or local elections.

 

then the dems won't go along with the id program and we stay in the mess we are in. But why do you care where the registration takes place. in Mass you can register when you get you license. Where are you from that you can only register at one place in the whole county

 

Back in the day when you got pulled over by the cops they asked for your drivers licence and your draft card.

If you didn't produce your draft card you were arrested and the FBI was contracted.

Draft cards were free back in the day.
