Has it ever occurred to anyone that this rule and some others, might be outdated?

They have to look at it. In leftist land, that's wrong.

I don't think a nun would have too much of a problem taking off her habit if she were serving in Congress.

exactly, if one is gonna allow Christian and Jewish religious apparel to be worn, then one has to allow Muslim religious apparel as well

It should be changed before it is.

    Unconstitutional.

To force her to would be unconstitutional

No one would be forcing her to serve in Congress.

You think people have rights that they don't actually have.

For example, if you think "free speech" applies in Congress, just try going in there and talking out of turn. The Speaker of the House will have you thrown out.

Yeah; the prohibition was always unconstitutional, and this situation further highlights it.

A law preventing someone from wearing a hat in a certain place is not "respecting religion", nor does it prevent them from exercising their faith (once they leave that location).

Ok that would be interesting. What if a Senator such as Whitehorse Campbell wore an Indian Chiefs feathered headdress in Congress and someone tried to throw him out. I would love to see that case in the SC. You think that the liberals and conservatives in court would have a PowWow to come to an agreement on which way to vote.

Freaked speach does not mean you can act like an anarchist.

I would be against that as it makes the person anonymous and as an anonymous person they have no business there, no one has the right to hide their identity, I would require the face be visible

If they are identified in private prior to sitting down that would be a reasonable accomodation
