Exactly, you're the one talking about it like that's supposed to humanize the whole legacy of the Confederacy. And if anyone should be doing something about today's slavery, it's you since you've taken it upon yourself to mouth off about it. So what have you done about slavery today?

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen.

The vast majority of people back then were racist. North, South, European, Asian, didn't matter.

If Lincoln were alive today and held the same views, he'd be looked upon as the biggest racist ever, you guys.

I understand why the people of NOLA would find a statue of Lee, and by extension what he fought for, offensive, and I don't care what they do with it.

I understand why stupid people do stupid things, and you've gotta be a complete moral and intellectual imbecile to park a statue of Lenin in your community. You would do well not to make yourself look ridiculous by excusing or dignifying that vacuity...

    Lol...That would be trump.
If he thinks that McCain is a loser for merely being a POW, imagine what he must think of someone who lost a whole damn war, eh?

I'm not interested in learning how to be a moral and intellectual pygmy, but I have learned something today:

Memorial to Confederate general who fought for slavery bad
Memorial to "progressive" mass murderer who fought for slavery humorous and quirky and stuff

Did you know that bitching about one and making excuses for the other is the essence of hypocrisy?

I think the important thing for you to think about here is that you don't get it. Pretending that I'm bitching about anything actually makes you look pretty ridiculous

That's some nasty turd polishing there, bud.
You people have had to jettison every value you ever had to keep convincing yourselves that your great orange hope isn't a complete *******. Decent people would be ashamed.

    kyped this from another forum...

"I think this was by Benet, I am not sure I recall all of it

Hats off to Masta Robert a real FFV
A dauntless & chivalrous leader was he
He massacred Hooker & trifled with Pope
He trimmed poor old Burnside of whiskers & hope
But Meade was the horseshoe he couldn't quite bend
And then came Ulysses s Grant & the end"

Good for New Orleans. Lee bought and sold human beings and kept them as involuntary slaves in his personal life, and fought to protect the practice of slavery in the Confederacy with his military service. He was a traitor to the nation of his birth, and a traitor to human rights as a philosophy and an institution. He deserves no monuments in his honor.
