    Hello all
My moniker might be Cheddar, but cheesy I ain't!
I'm a... mature... Brit living in the UK Midlands and, having followed some threads on here for a year or so, I thought it was about time I contributed. This might entail venting my spleen a little from time to time
I enjoy sensible, realistic debate, but I do have a few foibles: I am passionate about the English language; I have little tolerance with people who cannot spell, and I have absolutely NO tolerance with those that claim that spelling doesn't matter :steamed::steamed:
P.S. I'm a tad forgiving of American spellings... begrudgingly... :eyepopping:

Welcome, Cheddar. I am glad to have you on the forums. I have to agree with you that presenting one's thoughts and opinions in a manner that is generous and gracious to the reader portrays the author in the best possible light. I always thought that a lack of punctuation is the fashion equivalent of belting one's trousers mid-thigh so most normal forms of mobility are reduced to a waddle. Even so, I had a bout of Guillain Barre' Syndrome several years ago and I spent a lot of time conversing with other people who were typing out posts with a stick held in their mouths, so I tend to be a bit more forgiving until I learn whether the offender is doing the best they can or they are just being a lout.

As for American spellings, that is the contrivance of Andrew Jackson who was aggressively uneducated. Most things that are bad about America can be traced to Andrew Jackson, but that is another issue for another time.

I am pleased to have you on the forums and look forward to having a civil disagreement with you.

Haha, I'm not so forgiving, although I try not to let it show
