I have some real good reliable sources from the Boston area telling me that Bellicheck told his team to play the worse game in Patriot history, and to actually throw the game against the Ravens because too many of his star key players were injured and that it wouldn't look good for the team to try to beat a hot Raven team at the height of its glory. I mean, did anyone else believe the high scoring Patriots would just lay down in the second half without scoring a single point? And has anyone ever seen a Bellicheck coached team misjudge the clock right before the halftime when they had an easy touchdown scenario but blew it by mismanaging the clock and settling for a fieldgoal instead. So the Pats are going to regroup and come back strong next year to be the odds on favorite to win the SB before Brady the greatest QB of all time gets too old. I rather tink that Bllicheck's talk to the team to blow the game was actually a work of genius considering the health of the team and the lack of experience of his rookie defensive backs. Does everyone agree with me?

Your conspiracy theory is not much different than that of your anti-liberal perceptions, WAY OFF. You couldn't have been more wrong on your picks last week, than you were for the election.

Sounds stupid. Why would they have any need to throw the game in order to come back strong next year?
Why not win the conference title, play in the Superbowl, and then comeback strong again next year? Why not give his defensive backs some Superbowl experience?

Your sport sources must be about as reliable as your political sources.

My prediction for SBXLVII, Harbaugh. No challenge there.

I'm hoping that he is just poking fun at the Bill Callahan threw the Superbowl allegations.

Personally I think that Callahan was just an inexperienced coach who over coached. Trying to be the last guy with the chalk in his hand usually costs you the game. No coach ever came up with a good idea after 10pm or Thursday.

Look, you're not just disagreeing with me--you're disagreeing with Bill Bellicheck's decision to have his men throw the game. Again, does anyone actually believe that the highest scoring team in the league---the Patriots would get shut out in the second half at home in a playoff game? Lets get real here for a moment...shall we? And how many 3rd downs and 2 to go for a first down in the first half did Brady miss? I counted 4 but perhaps it was more. Those situations were a piece of cake for Brady when throwing to Welker in the past. I'm telling you--the game was obviously thrown so that the players could regroup and heal the injuries for next year's run at the title. You know I'm right, so now just admit it.

You know as well as everybody else, that if Bellicheck threw a game, not only would he be fired, but also banned from the game. Exposing yourself as ridiculous, only makes you a laughing stock.

Well, who in the higher ups of the NFL braintrust is going to accuse Bellicheck of throwing the game? That isn't something you can readily prove, now is it?

    Unlike you, Bellecheck has integrity.

So now you're saying that it was integrity that forced Bellicheck to have his players throw the game? That makes sense, I suppose.

I still can only wonder if he really threw the game or not. I'm glad they lost, but why call all three of your timeouts within 20-30 seconds and before the two minute warning, which would of gotten them the ball back anyways. That's just plain stupid, possibly a little suspicious.

Exactly. I've watched every Bellicheck coached game, and I can tell you he would have never made such boneheaded blunders with the clock decisons like he did in that game. From easily getting 7 points to getting 000 before halftime was a good sign that he had already trhown in the towel. And if that wasn't enough--then for the Pat's to go scoreless in the second half simply iced my convictions.

Its time to bet the house on Baltimore for the super bowl. What's the latest spread....is it 5 points favorite for San Fran or what? Whatever, Baltimore will not only cover, but they will win outright. You know I got a near perfect record with my picks here, so it would behoove all of you to think and act on Ravens so as to collect big time $$ like me.

With your record, I know S.F. is a safe bet. 49ers are going to take the Lombardi trophy. I can't bring myself to say I'm picking them though. I wish both teams could lose, but unless Jesus makes his encore in the next 60 hours, fairy town will beat the team that deserted the Cleveland fans.

I've been away and thus why I'm now replying

I catch a lot of heat from my buddies when I complain about Brady being a sissy. Many times you see a big hole and Brady will not run. Now to catch more heat. It's time to give Mallett some play time this coming season and change the Pats offensive style to compete against the quicker and more athletic defenses which are now appearing. Without a dominant offensive line and running game, the drop back QB's days are numbered. Athletic QB's will become the new reality.

If you want to see coming attractions of the NFL look to the SEC and how Johnny Football gives coaches heartburn

You always spend your timeouts When the other team has the ball. You conserve as much of the clock as possible while you are on defense. Once you have the ball you can conserve the clock through your play calls and hurry up.

I now have a reason to watch the Harbowl. During the Katina hurricane, a half dozen people died in the super dome. You've heard of the turf monster tripping players with the ball. Well I'm going to be counting how many ghosts make plays tomorrow.

Next year XLVIII will be in the stadium of the NYG and Jets. I hope it's the worst snow storm in history. Imagine, the super bowl that nobody saw because of so much snow. Kinda like the fog bowl in Philly, remember?

Thank goodness it's finally Super Bowl Sunday. Pretty much nothing would surprise me that will happen in this game. A 49er blowout of the Ravens would be the most surprising thing to me, but it wouldn't shock me though. Considering the Falcons & Pats failed to score in the 2nd half of the their Championship games, I expect something similar, where most, but not all, of this games scoring to be done in the 1st half.
    I'm going with: The Ravens 23, 49ers 20

From you having a failed political ideology to having a failed pick to win the Lomardi trophy, I'm going to make it my mission with the tons of $$ I just won betting on the Ravens to see to it that you get extra help here on these boards by donating large sums of $$ to this site so that the moderators here won't permanently ban me for using off base remarks to make my point(s) in setting you straight in both sports knowledge and in politics.

It was pass interference in the end zone! Corrupt refs ruin another one.

Actually, upon closer examination with the replays--we see that the offensive player actually knocked down the defender in the endzone, so I'll accept the non call if you will. The better team who was destined to win won the game. End of story.

If you really look at what happened, it's clear the defender had a hold of the receiver's jersey at his belly. Those ghosts played a big part in the game. In the first quarter, the focus was off, and the colors were off. Then the lights went out. But in the end, it was the refs that tossed the game.

It seems to me that the refs "let 'em play" a whole bunch. I saw at least 3 Niner "O" line holds; Flacco was clearly nailed out of bounds; Ed Reed was without a doubt off sides on the Niner 2 point try; And a call(def. hold or pas int.) coulda(shoulda?) been made on the 4th down play in the end zone, but Crabtree also pushed off & the ball seemed rather uncatchable, but that rule doesn't exist in the NFL(as far as I know). If I was a Niner fan, I'd probably be screaming bloody murder too.
And oh yea, the Raven player probably would have been thrown out of a regular season game for pushing the Ref.

The refs called a very loose game for both teams.

If they wanted to they could have called the Niners for illegal procedure every play because their line was almost never set.

Not to toot my own horn but I had Ravens +3. Although I thought it was going to be a lower scoring affair.

I kind of find it funny. All the talking head going on about how the pistol was figured out. No it wasn't. Like I said in an earlier post. With read all you can do is dictate where the ball goes and hope your defense plays sound football. The Ravens forced the give which is what you should normally do unless their RB is way way way better than the QB and they had Haloti Ngata and Ray Ray stuffing the middle. There is no figuring it out with Xs and Os its simply about having better Jimmies and Joes.
