Peer-reviewed? Lol! I would suggest "peer-review is the first time that phrase was suggested in that Governors office!

And the complaint that the modeling was "way off" are because the pathetic lies and BS the Republican infrastructure was try to show the actual overloaded medical infrastructure was supposedly having had "plenty of capacity", which is a pathetic lie.

Seriously ill and dying patients have had to drive or take flights into numbers of states, in surrounding and not-so surrounding states for some to die far from home, but to conveniently jack up deaths away from South Dakota statistics.

What a racket! This Gov. Kristi doesn't care whose people get sick as long as their local leaders grab the money - including herself and her businesses.

From the South Dakota Newspaper (Argus Leader) that Newsmax refers to for its news, not opinion article linked here.

That report, compiled from data from 39 state health agencies including South Dakota's, found 649 positive cases of COVID-19 across the country in the two weeks following the early August event tied to the Black Hills gathering. More than 460,000 people from 61% of all U.S. counties attended the 10-day event.

Those figures were drastically lower, though, than an earlier study by Center for Health Economics and Policy Studies at San Diego State University last September that asserted more than 260,000 cases were caused by South Dakota's hosting of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Noem said those studies and the headlines they create are an attempt to "demonize" the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and discourage states from keeping their economies open.

"We're talking about the Sturgis bike rally and that has been labeled for almost a year as a super-spreader event, which was an absolute lie," she said.

so much for the ridiculously ludicrous notion that the thread is an opinion article.

I think it is possible for an individual independent thinker to accomplish the same on his own.

Sorta cracks me up you post a link to an article saying an event in a single state spread to 7 other states, but somehow was not a super-spreader event.... I guess you are using 'super' in the context that it was GREAT spreader event.

just like the BLM protests, it's all about how many are infected, all of these could have been supper spreader events

only would have taken a couple infected to become a mass spread event

That would be an intelligent and rational way of doing things. Some though insist on letting others do their thinking for them by using such abominations as MBFC.

An event that attracted 460k people over time actually caused no more than normal spread for back then. It is that linked story that the current news story is directly rebutting.

They have been conditioned to have others do their thinking for them. They have been conditioned to let David Muir and others "tell them what that means". We have the government we deserve.

Uh.... No.... It's it one VERY non-scientific person rebutting that story... Which she is certainly welcome to do, but she makes no actual case.

If I say only 12 people died in the plane crashes of 9/11, am I "rebutting that story"??

You're probably not interested, but Sharyl Attkisson on her show Full Measure, treated the matter of Sturgis and the propaganda putsch it represented last spring.

Noem is correct. All the facts show that. You won't watch Attkisson's treatment of it with hindsight because to do so would threaten the narrative you need so much.

Last month on Full Measure, Sharyl Attkisson's work showed exactly how the propaganda effort was sensational and grossly inaccurate.

But you stay with the Official Narrative EgoBoy. You'll do just fine!

Sadly, the demand is off the charts... they are getting 30 (THIRTY!) phone calls a day

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/corn-palace-official-says-amazing-151819705.html

Don't you guys have a bowling alley??

Also, why does the Corn Palace look sort of like a midwestern Kremlin??

Sounds like it also scared the attendees away....

    SNIP
Supporters of MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell were said to have stood in line for hours to attend his rally in South Dakota on Monday - but the Corn Palace venue was only half full for the event.

Photos shared on Twitter show lines snaking around the Corn Palace in Mitchell. The Dickinson Press reported that some people stood in line for up to seven hours for the free event, which let people in on a first-come, first-served basis.
    ENDSNIP

As I said, this sounds like a town that needs a bowling alley... 7 hours to watch the Mein Pillow guy?? OMG...

Here's the part that really had me stumped

    SNIP
The comedian Joe Piscopo of "Saturday Night Live" fame performed a music set, which included the national anthem.
    ENDSNIP

    Huh?

I was glad it was so poorly attended. A friend went downtown to check out the crowd and said there were a lot of out of state license plates.
We do have a bowling alley. And a movie theater (5 screens) AND a drive-in movie theater.

No offense... looks like a nice place to live on the Google Earth...

I love drive-ins.... went to one practically once a week where I spent 4 years of my youth, a place which makes Mitchell look like Tokyo... Was the only entertainment (for kids) in town for sure...
