Typical of religion. The christians will continuously say that the bible is about love, god is about love.

    In reality, it breeds hate.

This is just another a-typical pastor going after a group, for no logical reason. But this over line. He is calling for the deaths of homosexuals. Stand proud christians, this is your brethren.

His mouth's not moving in time with the words... I don't think he said any of that.

But even if he did, he called for homosexuals to be put in separate fences and fed regularly, but pointed out they would soon die out since they won't be reproducing.

Not exactly 'CALLING FOR THE DEATH OF GAYS' the title seems to indicate.

I thought he was very respectful to President Obama. Maybe you're expecting too much from a southern preacher?

Indeed, it would appear the fine Christian displayed the loving grace of his god in typical fashion.

"I figured a way to get rid of all the lesbians and queers," he says in his sermon, delivered on May 13. "Build a great, big, large fence — 150 or 100 mile long — put all the lesbians in there... Do the same thing for the queers and the homosexuals and have that fence electrified so they can't get out… And you know what, in a few years, they'll die."

Is it really any wonder that with inbred and backwoods ideas such as this that religion in this country is in a decline?

Furthermore, how can this (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*), and he is that, call himself a Christian with such a nasty attitude? His words seem the antithesis of Christian.

Are you okay with this approach? Does it represent Christian love, in your opinion?

Religion in general? I'm inclined to disagree. I would not even say it's typical for Christians.

What you're doing seems no better than someone taking a video of the most extreme example from a Pride celebration and claiming those people are typical of homosexuals.

I wouldn't have said it... nor would I attend the church of any preacher who'd say it.

But regardless, he didn't actually call for anyone's 'death' -- more like wishing gays to be removed from straight society. Not as big a deal as the OP made it out to be.

    Not exactly, but...

"Get rid of" may not be the same thing as "we should kill them", but the goal is clear - the extermination of gay people. The fact that that it's through letting them die off rather than intervening to hasten their deaths doesn't really make much difference when the end goal is elimination.

Are we supposed to be mollified by the idea that the people thus deprived of their liberties are being fed?

To me, that seems like nothing more than trying to paint a humane face on an inhumane action.

    Yeah, it kind of is.

You see, Christ was all about love, acceptance, forgiveness. Hate the sin, not the sinner, right?

This Christian preacher suggested those sinners, of which we all fit the definition, that he disagrees with be confined until they die out.

Now I understand that in many Christina circles such pathetically disgusting hatred and frothing at the mouth bigotry is acceptable, but there are folks in this world that thin, such things are a "big deal".

So rounding up gay people and sticking them in a camp surrounded by an electric fence as a means to "get rid of them" isn't a big deal?

    Is this Christian love?

Nonsense... I've been saying we've got to get rid of Barack Obama for the last 2 years. Doesn't mean I want to see him dead... just away from me and mine.

The preacher (if he's really a preacher) is a nut. But that doesn't mean he can't speak his mind. Why on earth would you want to shut him up? Don't you know you might be next on the shutting up list?

Surrounded by an electric fence and fed.....Gee, what does that bring to mind? Maybe farm animals?

Point being, This pastor thinks we should treat human beings of same-sex orientation as if they were the equivalent of beasts. I see no respect for human dignity being portrayed here.

So answer the question (anyone): Is this Christian love? Is this a solution you would support or condemn?

Unless you'd like to provide some proof this guy is really a preacher, I remain skeptical. The whole thing reeks of a staged rant designed to make gays looks like victims and Christians look like idiots. Not saying both aren't now & then, but this time I think it's a farce.

I realize the preacher's remarks about gay people was part of an anti-Obama rant, but Obama is not the focus of this thread. It is, rather, focused very narrowly on the preacher's remarks about gay people. So you can spare us the pointless deflections, address our actual points and answer our questions already.

Strawman, appeal to emotion. At no point have I said or implied that the preacher should be shut up. On the contrary, I'm firmly in favor of freedom of speech - including the freedom to offer criticism of the things that "nuts" say.

Perhaps the better question is, why do you want to shut me up?

LOL, who ask you to shut up?

OK, I did a little checking and the church is real and the pastor is real... but I'm not convinced the 'sermon' was real. His mouth didn't match the words... and the voice seemed to belong to someone else. So I went to the church site and there is a video listed for that day's sermon... but it doesn't work.

I then traced the source of the youtube and came up with HuffPo.

Much ado about nuthin. Anything to take the message off Barack Obama.

From mormons to muslims to chirstians, all religions hate homosexuality. Religion is a problem.

I seen this on FB too. Only thing is he doesn't say what they say he says. Anytime you have to exagerate what someone else has said, you lose credibility.

I agree the title is a bit of an over exaggeration, but what really happened is not much better

Not all religions do. In point of fact, there are churches who identify as Christian that support marriage equality.

Bias is the problem. Yours doesn't make you better than them.

There are exceptions to every rule. Bashing homosexuality by religions is the norm.

Neither one is true of what I saw and heard. I listened to other audio from the website and it sounds like the same person to me. The mouth was matched with the words in the video I saw. Maybe it's just your connection.

Can you provide us with a link to the page containing the link to the video for that date? Here's where I'll just note that there's no shortage of dishonest people who will scrub their site to cover their tracks when something like this happens.
