He said the same thing in both even though you attempted to claim otherwise with your cherry picked 8 sec. sound bite and both were in 2010 NOT from day one of the Obama administration. I already showed where even the Washington Post gave the whole nonsense 2 pinnocoles. The Democrats use this myth to try and excuse their own policy failures and any research shows what utter nonsense it is.
It most certainly does not only because the Democrats lie about it but to put it in proper context as to what he said and why he said both of which were perfectly reasonable.
That is so clearly and deliberately false that it is astounding! Talk about trying to rewrite history!
Scroll back and then refute what I posted instead of issuing self-serving dismissals. Start with the Washington Post giving the Democrat claims 2 pinnoceloes.
Thank God he did, actually. The Repugs would have blocked it if Obama tried it and the country would be sunk, because to the Republican mind, that would have been a "victory". Reid says senators will vote Thursday on measure, led by Republicans opposed to TARP, seeking to block the second half of bailout "President-elect Obama believes it is not too late to change course, but it will be if we don't take dramatic action as soon as possible," http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/14/news/economy/gop_tarp/index.htm?postversion=2009011422
what specific bills did democrats pass that caused it to "go to pot"? And which of those bills did bush (R) sign?
and which bills did the democrats pass in 2007-2008 that bush (R) would have had to sign, that would have caused the economy to crash as it did?
they took majority control of congress, not government. Majority control of government (executive and legislative) happened in 2009
Where did I claim they passed a specific bill that caused a crash? We were due for at least a slowdown if not a recession after the long period of growth and prosperity under the Republicans. It was lack of policies to mitigate that slowdown/recession and threats of policies to deepen it such as more regulation and higher taxes along with the 2008 and 2009 budgets and their HUGE increase in spending and deficits that sent us into the tail spin for which they offered little if anything to get us back on track. What did they pass that worked?
President Obama saved our country from a economic free-fall, put in regulations to prevent this happening again, passed legislation's to protect our planet's resources and created a Health care system that our country badly needed ( slowing down the cost of health spiraling out of control ). We'll see how Trump fares. He has big shoes to fill.........
Oh, I know the history of economic recessions and recoveries in this country - that's why I'm questioning YOUR knowledge of said facts. Right now your just some dude on the internet parroting talking points. Prove to me your not.
Obama stopped our economy from flourishing by instituting too many regulations on business. Obama did not do anything to help our economy, he hurt it in almost every respect. I could have stopped the recession, that is the easy part. It's the recovery that takes savvy and Obama had none. He was also a Foreign Policy disaster that greatly affected the economy. He was terrible all the way around. ACA is a disaster and will implode shortly.
My point is that when YOU claim to have historical proof that THIS recession would have been shorter if only X had been done, you are not telling the truth.
That doesn't even mean anything. When you're at ANY employment, economic growth is limited to the available labor force. Like, by definition. Solid economic growth? The average annual real GDP growth for Bush was just over 2%. Obama's was at 1.5%. All other Presidents since Truman were well over 2.5%, and some past 3%. Revenues slumped as a percentage of our GDP. They continued to rise, yes, but the rate of growth drastically fell. I'm not sure if you're blaming the deficit or the economic downturn solely on Democrats. Either is wrong. Yeah, and it was also in large part due to subprime mortgages being sold to people who couldn't afford the houses they were buying. The private housing market is just as culpable with propagating the housing bubble. Also, it wasn't in large part to government policy that Democrats proposed in 2007, which is what you seem to be suggesting. Again, you're claiming we didn't have a recovery?
Bluesguy, are you honestly suggesting that the Democrats should've done MORE to somehow mitigate damage? Because that's awfully Keynesian of you.
they took majority control of congress, not government. in 2009, when a Democrat was in the WH, then they have majority control of government. So, what specific bills did the democrats in congress pass, which require a signature by bush (R) are you claiming caused the crash in 2008?
you have consistently claimed the democrats are responsible for the crash to the economy in 2008. You keep incorrectly claiming they had majority control of government in 2007. That is demonstrably false. So, what policies/bills did congressional democrats enact that caused the crash in 2008?
