One well informed friend of mine stated to me on Facetime today that the COVID 19 test gives many many many false positives due to it giving a positive to somebody who may have had a Corona type flu or cold even five or ten years ago.
People are suspicious that there may be a new, more readily spread variant in southeastern England driving cases there. I have noted that our daily new case numbers have been growing a lot faster than in the past and more and more places are closing down for deep cleaning or quarantining. The county courthouse has been closed all week after it got in among the clerks. Last week it was the treasurer/revenue offices. Next week, who knows.
It is just insane that given the massive rise coupled with the reality that there is now a vaccine that there is still to be travel throughout the whole of the UK at Christmas and that would be even more so if what you are suggesting turns out to be correct. The idea that everyone will not travel for Christmas of their own free will is ridiculous. Some may but most people are going to think everyone else is doing it, we are allowed to do it so I would look like a fool if I did not. Most will and then especially if what you are saying is confirmed as true, covid will be everywhere. That of course is particularly because a lot of people do not even show symptoms. They were saying on the TV last night that the expected increase in cases would mean hospitals unable to take people with other illnesses needing quick attention. This happened in the March lockdown as well. It looks likely that a lot of people who have other illnesses than Covid are going to die so that people can enjoy Christmas.
The cases are on the rise also in France, despite the end of the lockdown, furthermore, Germany started to close the non essential business this week. I don't know for Spain and Italy.

I was listening to someone, dont know who he was last night and he was happily saying that we had a vaccine now so people should be allowed to do what they liked at Christmas after the awful year they had. I find it hard to understand how someone comes to this idea. I was reading hospitals in some parts of England have already stopped non urgent admissions. We have a vaccine, we can get over this very soon so why go on a killing spree first? His attitude is a bit like hearing the war is over in 3 days and deciding to kill as many of the enemy as possibly before it ends just for the hell of it.
Boris has confirmed that there is a new strain of the virus in the South East of England which it is believed finds it 70% more able to transmit. Because of this Christmas has been 'cancelled' in the South East where they now have a new Level 4. At the moment they do not believe it provides a worse dose which will make a higher percentage ill or kill a higher percentage of people who contact it. Nicola has just finished her speech on what is happening in Scotland. We have already had a small number of the new strain so the idea is to nip this in the bud. Only essential travel between Scotland and England and all other parts of the UK. That means no Christmas visits between Scotland and other parts of the UK. From Boxing Day almost all of Scotland will go on a level 4 lockdown for 3 weeks. Children will be off school until the 11th January and will be taught online until 18th Jan when we will get more information.
The problem is that we have a lot of crazy people here, who deny the virus and its danger. They call themselves "Querdenker" (lateral thinkers) but in fact, they're completely unable to think. They hold large rallies ignoring any infection control rule. Coronavirus loves them very much! Europe and the world are celebrating a sad Christmas this year, like a Christmas in wartime. The only hope is that vaccinations have started almost everywhere now.
Oh we had some of those as well particularly in London. Copying the US! I was writing on the new restrictions which are being put in in Scotland while you were writing this. Lets hope the vaccines work with the new Strain and sufficient people are not too scared to have it but I can see the urgency in stopping this new strain spreading. I don't think Karl Marx was evil. There is a massive difference between his philosophy and those who said they were putting it into practice. Marx himself said ideologies turn reality upside down. They take a little bit of reality and put a twist on it. This convinces people but it is a warped interpretation of the truth. If you take possibly the best known bits of Marx 'to each according to his needs and from each according to his abilities' and his believe that we ought to have an environment that will allow us to be 'free conscious creative beings' this suggests Marx had a spiritual leaning. You cannot force spirituality. I think we were/are not ready, not that Marx was evil. I have visited his grave. Not deliberately I just bumped into it when I was at Highgate Cementery.

Most of the one's I saw interviewed in London were old and seemed to believe what they were saying. I found an article on them in Germany and seems you have a mixture of completely different types of people doing this. That is what I suspected about the London one. The oldies could have been a bit ex hippie type there too. I don't think I could ever walk with people waving far right flags regardless of how much I thought I agreed with what the actual protest was about. Very weird. I trust your Government knows who is organising these marches and whether there is some other motive.
