so the terror attacks in NYC, London, Madrid, Paris, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, etc..are all "God's will"?

This is one area where I will have to agree with you. If the US ever totally loses its faith in god we are doomed.

    - - - Updated - - -

Looks that way. Now if it were Christians doing this we could still blame it on free will.

To a point, as nothing can happen without God willing it to occur.

so God willed it that the West would conquer the Middle East in 1915?

    and the Iraq invasion?

    and the bombing of Syria?

so why do you complain about these things if they are God's will?

I don't complain that they occurred. Just upset that the Muslims allowed them to.

God is taken more seriously in the US than in most any other western nation. We are slipping however and going down the tubes as we do.

Only 28% of the sample size in this poll have an unfavorable view of ISIS. Try as a I might, I cannot find anywhere that Pew lists what the total sample size is for this poll.

People really need to stop saying that a poll with a minute sample size compared with total population is actually indicative of what that entire population thinks.

As a devout, practicing liberal, I do not support ANY religion. I support Islam only insofar as it is being attacked by Christianity and Judaism, the three of which constitute an Unholy Triad of Evil and Deceit.

You do realize that this means that 72 % DO have an unfavorable opinion of ISIS, right?
But go ahead. . .it seems that we needed an other Islamophobic thread in this forum! ( NOT!)

That's funny. In less than 5 minutes I found this page:

    http://www.pewglobal.org/international-survey-methodology/?country_select=Pakistan&year_select=2015

Which informs us that the sample size was 1200 with a margin of error of 3.8%

I think you should not criticize the survey methodology without actually knowing the methodology just because you don't like the results.

I found that page too, early on, but the April date listed for the sampling seemed like it was too old to be for the survey in the OP that is dated this month. And there were no correlating questions or topics listed in the page you linked that match up with what is being asked in the survey in the OP.

My criticism is not for the survey itself or the topic, it's for the way people represent what the survey actually says. And that counts for any survey, not just this one. 28% of muslims in Pakistan did not say they have an unfavorable view of ISIS. 28% of the 1,200 people that were polled did. Extrapolating anything beyond that is pure guesswork. Sometimes the guessing works, as presidential polling sometimes shows, but there's no way of knowing how accurate you were if you don't have something that settles the matter in the end(like our election does for gauging what America itself was going to vote for, not just the poll respondents). There will never be a way to verify what all the muslims in Pakistan think so this poll is masturbation at best and dishonest at worst.

I disagree. Scientific surveys are based on some pretty sophisticated mathematics (which I happened to study) and when well designed by professionals (as is Pew) can give valuable information. Modern civilization relies heavily on statistical analysis. Medicines are evaluated by similar techniques, for instance. Insurance companies earn billions based on sample surveys.

Are they infallible? No. Through an extra ordinary run of bad luck, the survey might have chosen every single ISIS supporter in Pakistan. But that is very unlikely. The sampling error gives us an idea of how good the survey is. Following standard procedure, we can assert that there is a 95% chance that the actual percentage of Pakistanis who disapprove of ISIS is between 24.2% and 31.8%.

That statement is not "guess work."

It seems to me a little extreme to describe one of the greatest advances in modern life as "mental masturbation" in order to discredit a statistic which challenges your deeply held beliefs.

This seems to be the antithesis of open mindedness, a quality I am guessing, you ascribe to yourself.

This is why you have to look for the ones that say this is a scientific survey. There are good surveys and bad ones.

I think you need to read the article again. It says 28% has an unfavorable opinion, not 72% like you claim.

Maybe you should go back to your own source and actually READ FOR COMPREHENSION!

The ONLY country who has ONLY a 28% unfavorable opinion of ISIS is PAKISTAN. . .NO WHERE in all the countries listed is there more than a 15% approval of ISIS

Why don't you try to figure your own source out and stop spreading FALSE information?

If you found this source so easily, wouldn't it have been wiser of you to READ IT?

Actually, EVEN IF you had read the TITLE, it might have given you a hint that the article you refer to is ONLY For Pakistan. . .not for all Islamic countries. In fact, here is what Islamic country think of ISIS.

The title of this thread is "Only 28% of Muslims in Pakistan Have Unfavorable Opinion of ISIS". Where did I claim the other countries listed had over 15% approval? Are you attempting a strawman argument, here?

I'd say you need to read the article again, because you were completely wrong in your claim that 72% have an unfavorable view. It's actually 28%, as the title of the thread suggests.

The title of this thread is obviously BIAS, and MISLEADING. It's intent is obviously to drive Islamophobia and resentment of Muslims to a new high.

You provided a source for that "OP title," and I took that opportunity to check my gut feeling that it was a MISLEADING title and a the beginning of another of your hateful threads.

I was right, and I provided a MORE COMPLETE and more honest view of what that source was saying.

Do you have a problem with that? Maybe if you do you should report me?

In the mean time, people who won't bother to go to the FULL article (with a very complete table also), have the right to be informed that they are being played for fools!

    Someone gets it.

However, I'd argue that Christianity is just the useful idiot in all of this. Judaism is killing two birds with one stone as it destroys Christianity and pits it against Islam.

It is not the statistics provided by the Pew research that are invalid. . .it is the way those statistics are being used by the OP writer! When one selects only a very small part of a large statistical research. . .it obviously changes the whole context of the research. In fact the title of the PEW article gives the HONEST and VALID context of this research, not the small part that describes ONLY their finding in Pakistan!

The INTENT of this OP is clear to see: To MISLEAD the readers. That was NOT the intent of the PEW article!

The title is based on recent Pew Research polling. If you have a problem with the factual information I posted in the subject line, feel free to contact Pew Research and voice your concerns.

How is it misleading? Does the polling not show that 28% of people in Pakistan have an unfavorable view of ISIS?

With the 72% claim you have yet to substantiate? How is making up numbers "more complete and more honest"?

I was the one who posted the full article. I quoted it verbatim in the OP, giving a link afterwards to the source. What are you even talking about? I think you're just upset that you clearly misread the article when you made your first post.

Which is an Islamic concept in origin. According to Islamic theology, Jews know that Islam is right, but in their deceitful ways, lie about it in order to deceive Christians.
