Sure there is - it's all in the motivation. Take it a step further and ANY joke IS a lie. I've taught teenagers for years and been subjected to both; there's a pretty obvious difference between the two, and having enough sense to discern the nuance between either possibility allows me to determine if I laugh at it or send the kids to the office.

The motivation here was to illustrate the absurdity of Occasional Cortex' position by taking it to extremes. They succeeded. Worst part of it was, as has been noted elsewhere, no one else there objected, no one else there seems to have said hey - she's wrong. The result? Cortex and Her Merry Men come off as really believing this DOES need to happen. I didn't see Cortex disavowing it. And again, as a teacher I've heard plenty of outrageous things coming outta the mouths of my kids and I, a mere mortal, had enough sense to say "Are you nuts?" What, Occasional Cortex the Mighty Congresswoman doesn't have the sense God gave an elementary school teacher?

No matter what your excuse is, you can't win this debate because we've come to expect liberals to take hyper radical positions which makes eating babies something we would expect someone from the left to say. The left has taken the global warming hysteria to an extreme and a European guy actually did advocate eating people as a way to save the planet. Here, let me repeat what I said earlier:

Hold it right there, you meant to say the prank could not have worked if it wasn't believable and it was. We're talking about people who say our coastal cities are going to flood because of the melting ice caps (yet no one is moving out of Manhattan), that entire countries would be wiped out, that environmental racism is somehow a defense for illegals to come here, even a democrat presidential candidate has said people should start moving to higher ground, and this is all done using Photoshopped pictures of polar bears as to emphasize the point we're all going to die in 12 years. And if that doesn't float your boat, we have our basic alarmists who vow not to have kids because of global warming and you guys even flew in an angry 16 year old mental kid to lecture us on something she could not possible have experienced in her lifetime. And believe it or not, a European nut job has already called for us to eat babies, so this prank is literally based on repeating what the left has already said.

 

Name one American so called Liberal politician that advocates eating babies. People like you decided to use this woman as a way to attack others, and it blew up in your face. Own it instead typing a bunch of BS.

Lol....you didn't and can't refute one point I made and now you want me to narrow down the left's insanity to one American liberal politician. While no American liberal politicians have advocated eating babies yet, AOC doesn't want to have kids because of global warming, Yang wants people to move to higher ground, and many American liberal politicians have said the planet will be uninhabitable in 12 years or we're all going to die. And nothing blew up in anyone's face because the prank was totally believable as coming from the left.

Let me help you out here. A prank is when someone pretends to be a Russian who has naked pictures of Trump and calls Schiff who totally falls for it and wants those pictures. A lie is when you accuse 3 white kids of cutting off your hair or when you claim to be assaulted by people you hired to assault you while shouting MAGA country.
