I actually don't feel safe now knowing that our so called 'best and brightest' are working against us.
If you're running a race but are not running to win, then wtf are you even running for?
This has got to stop; anti British sentiment has got to stop.
So what if UK does this first and saves the world from covid-19 and we use it to feel good about our country and this achievement if we succeed?
UK shouldn't feel ashamed at being the best.

She's a Gender studies teacher. Has nothing to do with the work being done on the virus.
I am a dual French and American citizen, I would much rather the French be the first to develop a vaccine. That does not mean I am in any ways against the American efforts in this race or that I wouldn't be elated if the Americans came up with a vaccine soon.
This teacher was talking about the political ramifications should the UK be first to solve the vaccine. It is a fair subject of conversation. There will be politicla ramifications should the US be the first to solve it. Fair to talk about it. You don't think Trump would use that as a political cudgel?

 

Whoever's first can pat themselves on the back, but I doubt the greater media and public would care. They'd just care for an effective vaccine to attack the virus.

To be fair, I think her article is still "sick", but less than it was reported.
I red a resume of that article with the tittle "she don't want white people to find the vaccine" however, in her article she doesn't mention white people, even in an undirect way.
She's still a crazy leftist, but to be fair, there is a lot of mistatement about that article that was made.

 

Sadly some of the left have sunk to the level of the extreme right in following political ideology over common sense.

 

I didn't see anywhere where she says she doesn't want the UK to find the vaccine, or anyone else for that matter.

She does say she's worried that if it is the UK that does, the politicians will use it for their rah-rah-rah nonsense and gloss over the necessary reforms that all countries will need to make to combat the shortcomings in policy and preparation that this virus has shown to be present.

This is honestly no different than a researcher being worried that the fruits of their research, in any field, might be used for things they consider to be bad. It's what happens when you're a human being with a conscience.

Apparently I should feel guilty for my countries colonial past and that I and most Brits do not leads to my not recognising my privilege called a micro aggression by the far left. It's a matter of power. In every culture, you have people using morals as a weapon. Manipulators understand how to use the noble aspirations of people to their own benefit, they would call for violence in name of freedom, equality or even peace.
They understand that you can use the ego of people to controle them, calling them good people or bad people.
Morals are a very powerfull tool.

China, Iran, they're not monolithic entities. Iran and China are also made of a lot of common, good people. The government of our western countries are also full of sociopathic people.
Yes, maybe Iran or China government don't deserve any cure, but their people ? It's different.

I'm still a little bit of an idealist, and I think there is no bigger greatness than showing mercy and empathy to an adversary.

I speak of mercy, not being an idiot by the way, being mercifull toward an ultra violent criminal is just irresponsibility, but that's another matter.
