You are missing the obvious. Deen admitted under oath in a deposition to saying that awful word in the 80s. That does not prove she didn't say it a few months ago. In fact that is one of the main reason she was doing the deposition was because of her alleged behavior a few months ago. Do you know Deen personally? Why are you so eager to believe that is the only time in her precious little life she's uttered such filth? Secondly even if we were to believe her weird explanation why did someone feel the need to push the incident back to the 60s and 70s if it was perfectly okay in the 80s? Speaks for itself.

By the way I never used that kind of awful hateful language. It didn't matter what age I was or what decade it was. We need to really raise the level of discourse in this country. This type of garbage should not be tolerated.

None of us know her, but why not give her the benefit of the doubt, esp since we do not know her. Isn't that the kind, compassionate, morally superior thing to do?

Michael Richards said just the n word and was blasted all over TV and hasn't been able to work since. Did he just not give enough to the left? Alex Baldwin seems to have gotten a free pass. John Mayer has also and I don't see any left winged outrage. So how do y'all judge who can say it or not. Is it how much money they give to the left? Is it what party they are with? I'm not seeing the difference. White people can either say it or not.

    No.

By her own admission she engaged in hateful awful behavior. She is currently being sued for the same type of behavior. And her method of explaining away her behavior made things even worse. It's like she doesn't even know what she did. I give people the benefit of the doubt when I don't know what happened. I witnessed her bizarre and inappropriate explanation. I was alive and remember the 80s. You had to be a real piece of garbage to speak that way. People around me did not speak that way. Trying to paint the 80s as a time in America where perfectly upstanding people were hurling slurs like that around dishonors our country and the South. Paula Deen needs to sort her problems out on her own and stop smearing vast sections of this country with her lies.

Another right winger on the internet whining about race. What else is new?

You may want to change the channel from Fox News. Michael Richards has been working on TV for years. His first show after Seinfeld was canceled because it sucked. Not every white man is entitled to their own TV show. After that he appeared on multiple shows and is slated to appear in multiple more. I know it doesn't fit the "I am a failure in life because of Negros" trailer park excuse but it is reality.

If it was a black man saying 'Whites are all crackas and need to die' it wouldn't even make news.

    Thats America these days.

What's your point? Was he trying to get on TV shows like Michael Richards?

    - - - Updated - - -

Do you have an example of a black person with multiple TV shows, restaurants, stores, and advertising contracts saying something like that? Or are you just making this up to feel good about yourself?

My point is the media picks and choices who to go after when a white person used the n word. It seems its party related.

You are jumping all over the place. First you posted a lie about Richards. Now you are conflating Eminem with Paula Deen. The Food Network is pushing a very different brand than what Eminem puts out. Sure they didn't renew Deen's contract but as far as I know they have never given Eminem a contract. The only "choosing" I'm seeing there is at least for a time they actually wanted to work with Deen.

Its ok to make snide remarks about anyone but those who complain the most? Or should we not do so at all?
Look at what we see here, and elsewhere, all day long...the condescending remarks about those who are, look, think, believe... differently. Ms. Dean is no better or worse than anyone else who snubs his/her nose at others, for whatever reason.

    - - - Updated - - -

So its the package that matters?

    No.

Being a racist is far worse than being a bit snobbish. How in the world in 2013 can anyone conflate the two?!

I don't even know what that means. Those two have very different marketing strategies which explains their treatment by sponsors and media outlets. There is not a big "get the white man" conspiracy going on here.

Your point is irrelevant, it would only have relevance if Deen was a rapper. There are many people of all colors who hate rap for the words and images it portrays. Deen was on a cooking show and her image was one of an innocent southern lady, that's where your disconnect is.

What? No my point is that if you are a dem and use the n word little to nothing is said. If you are a dem to will be rolled in tar then feathered.

I have no idea what Eminem's political affiliation is and it doesn't matter. Neither him nor Deen have a show on the Food Network. How is that being treated differently besides the fact the Food Network actually gave Deen a shot and she screwed it up. Or are you saying it is unfair Eminem never got a show to begin with?

I have no idea what your point is if any. If Paula Deen wants to be treated like Eminem she is doing a mighty fine job heading in that direction. I seem to remember Tipper Gore campaigning to have the likes of Eminem banned. If that's the kind of heat she likes in her kitchen then by all means keep using the n-word.

Do you have equal disdain for every performing Hip Hop/Rap artist that routinely use the same words in their lyrics?

What about the people that listen to, purchase and otherwise support their music/lyrics?

    Are they also "racism apologist"?

I thought you didn't keep up with pop culture? Tipper went after him for his violent speech. And it's not just Eminem but Alex Baldwin and others.

I find the use of the word offensive. Black people using that word is offensive to me but obviously they aren't being racist when they are using it.

Paula Deen was not using the word in an art form. She was using it because she had a confrontation with a black person. That's racism. I have a problem with racism. Other people obviously are totally okay with it.
