73 percent of Israel’s Arabs “feel a sense of belonging” to the Jewish State.

The vast majority of Israel’s Arabs, 73 percent, feel a sense of belonging in the Jewish state and 60 percent are proud to be Israelis, according to a new poll commissioned by the Israel Hayom daily and conducted by the New Wave Research Institute.

Nearly two-thirds of respondents, 65 percent, define themselves as not religious, while 35 percent say they are religious. Almost half, Forty-six percent, identify as Israeli Arabs and 42 percent identify as Palestinian Arabs, while only 3 percent identify as Israelis.

Almost three-quarters of respondents, 73 percent, believe that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is about land, while 19 percent feel it is about religion.

A total of 60 percent of those surveyed say they are “very proud” or “fairly proud” to be Israeli, while 37 percent say they are “not proud.”

Most of the Israeli Arabs polled say they believe that Jews have historic and religious ties to Israel. Their widely held desire, expressed by 82 percent, is not to live under Palestinian rule, while 14 percent say they would want it.

The poll questioned 426 Arab Israelis ages 18 and up.

This high support for Israel among Israeli Arabs is consistent with similar polls conducted in recent years.

Approximately 20 percent of Israel’s eight million citizens are Arabs.

Anyone living in Israel knows that Arabs are employed by and receive service at all government offices. They study at all universities, including Ariel University in Samaria, and serve as judges, doctors, IDF officers and parliamentarians.

They have a good reason to be proud to be Israeli.

Uhm... how can it be? Aren't we told daily including by the posters of this forum, Israeli Arabs are a second class citizens, hating their lot, wishing for the time when Israel becomes overpopulated with Palestinians or overrun by other friendly Arab nations? In reality, Palestinians living in Israeli think something else. It is very telling that overwhelming majority of Israeli Palestinians will NOT want to live under Palestinian rule.

Another question is, why are these Israeli Palestinians are not being ethnically cleansed out of Israel proper? Should not Jews run them out of Israel to thieve their property? :D

Nope. why should I care? If they are proud, they're proud. There is a LEGAL difference between citizenship and nationality in Israel. Look it up .. I doubt I can explain it.

    I dunno, you tell me.

I am just stating that your sentence sure as heck SOUNDS like you care.

And I have looked it up, I know it quite well. Arabs even hold seats in the Knesset.

The Arabs in Israel ARE citizens, and according to this poll are proud of the nation (nationalism)

So you said, there is a difference between citizenship and nationality, according to this poll you are wrong.

So again, it sure looks like this poll makes you upset as it does not go with what many other Arab countries think.

Got to object to something... anything... Israeli Arabs must be ethnically cleansed, deprived, unhappy, oppressed, 2nd class citizens... something must not be right with them to be happy in Israel :D

I was talking to an Arab colleague today. He mentioned he used to drive to a town (he didn't say "settlement") in "Yehuda and Shomron" (Judea and Samaria). Not the West Bank. Not Palestine. Judea and Samaria.

West Bank is a geographical name for Judea and Samaria, and that is what used by Palestinian defenders for they cannot bring themselves to say Judea and Samaria out-loud. How could they?

Does not take anything away from the fact that Palestinians Arabs are happy to live in Israel, and would uproot and move elsewhere if the area they live in falls under Palestinian control. Speaks volumes abut standards of living and YES! - freedoms all people crave; right, alexa?

    • Israeli arms sales to Europe grew from $724M in 2014 to $1.63B in 2015
    • Although the size of New Jersey Israel is one of the top 10 arms dealing nations in the world
    • Israel produces 60% of all drones worldwide and sells to over 50 countries, at times selling to both sides of a given conflict, and Israel fueled the drones arms race between India and Pakistan
Palestine is an open air weapons testing and crowd control laboratory with Palestinians being used in the development phase; Gaza is a lab of mass destruction. US super bunker busters were supplied to the Israelis in 2014 and investors stock shot up; war is just business after all.

The “War in Terror” has been a boon to the industry, you’ve seen what amounts to advertisement in every “news” outlet, we are being whipped up into a frenzy once again. The industry also pioneers crowd control research on the Palestinians, and Israel is involved in the training of American forces and law enforcement. We see this in the militarization of our own police departments, Ferguson was but one example of how our system is prepping to Palestinianize our own population, and in fact Ferguson now has Israeli developed/sold skunk spray post the Ferguson events, although no incidents have yet been reported of use on American streets. It’s pretty clear that the Israeli occupation style power structure is moving toward the same in America; a warehousing of the poor in a post industrial age with diminishing living wage jobs and privatized for profit prisons complete with a return to convict leasing.

Much of the security monitoring and mass surveillance technologies are also produced in Israel and sold across the globe. “Targeted assassination” was invented in Israel, which Obama was quite fond of. Abu Ghraib torture methods? Israel.

The US and Israel are not allies. The US and Israeli arms dealers are allies, and war is the business they are both in. We are all collateral damage.

I've read it somewhere already... ah yes - you've already posted this in another tread.

And it has to do with Israeli Arabs being the happiest Arabs in the region... what?

How do the 3.5 million Arabs who have lived under the Israeli occupation since 1967 feel, or the millions driven into camps so as you can have your majority feel?

They want to stay in Israel because they have seen what Israel does to the Palestinians and know if they were there that would be what happened to them. I would not want to go and live in a place which has been suffering and is as run down as Palestine is after being occupied and bit by bit having its land and resources stolen for 50 years.

They don't want to leave home "only 3 percent identify as Israelis."

Now when they are threatening to throw you out and you can't defend yourself against them, what would you say?

and I do expect they will be expelled.

As long as the Israelis are alright, that attitude of entitlement never ends.

There's a lawsuit about designations in passports. Arabs do not have "Israeli" nationality.

While the terms "citizenship" and "nationality" are sometimes used interchangeably, this is for political purposes rather than because there is no difference between the two. The most familiar instance of this is the use of "nationality" to denote state citizenship (as in nationality law).
