As a successful internet entrepreneur, I have a large value of surplus funds available.

    I have several options available.

    1) day trading
    2) mutual funds
    3) value investing

I am thinking about day trading, since I like making frequent decisions. I seek to generate 10-15% per year.

    What about YOU?

I tried day trading about 7 years ago. I was horrible at it. So I took much of that money and I bought properties and just rent them out. It's easy, especially wen you have a property manager. The rest goes to a financial company that invests it mostly in mutual funds. I don't need to handle money much.

I'm not sure, I bought the properties outright. I just pay for upkeep, repairs, property taxes, 7% to the management company, and some legal and ad expenses. The management company takes care of showing, renting, advertising, and drawing up leases. They really just call me when there's a repair over $1K. The cash flow is good and even if I got a mortgage, I'd have a decent profit -- especially since the interest can be written off. I tend to avoid leveraged investments though.

the idea of buying property, letting the renters pay the mortgage, and pay a manager to handle the place sounds great, but what if something goes wrong?

I have a lawyer friend who retired his practice to spend full time on day trading.

I'm fully insured. I'm not worried about that at all. If anything, I'd probably make money if, say, one of the houses burned down (I'm incorporated).

It's very easy money. You just sit back and let it roll in. The worst problem, which I suffered for several years during the slump, is a housing slump. That's when it's more profitable to offer crappy properties, but you also get crappy tenants. You can do all the work yourself, but I find it so much easier to just let the experts handle it -- especially since most of the properties are out of state. They also handle getting rid of tenants who won't leave, which is a problem I've only had once.

Since you got censored I am unable to respond to your comment. I don't know what you asked. No, I'm not going to (*)(*)(*)(*) away the rest, but I might (*)(*)(*)(*) it away or (*)(*)(*)(*) it away.

You know, if I survive long enough too.

I'm not savvy enough for day trading. My investment portfolio consists mutual funds but my largest investment is in REITs. I'm very familiar with real estate investing and that's been the most lucrative for me.

I have decided that I will day trade. From that I will make 15%. I will also value invest and make around 15% there. Finally, I will do mutual funds and make 15% there.

So, all in, I will make 45% a year.

    how does that equal 45%?

15% for some investments, 15% for others, and 15% for others, equals 15% total.

many good mutual funds will earn you more than 15% a year.

you can just put your money there and forget about it forever.

Which mutual funds are you thinking of, Ronstar? I'm invested in Vanguard 2017 retirement fund and I don't think the return on that one is as much as you say.

I am going to invest in Israeli Mutual Funds. Israel fund returns will be huge.
