I probably should have said "wee-wee" it away, but it sounds like you know what I meant.

Vanguard health fund and Vanguard US Growth fund.

they both have been kicking ass the last 5 years.

I was in the Retirement 2045 fund, but found that the Growth and Health funds have done better.

I did have all of my money in their Long Term Treasury fund, which has a minimum of $50k, but then I saw that over the last 5 years, their returns are like a damn roller coaster. I dont need that,.

I don't like these. I prefer to invest in Israeli defense stocks, to support their companies' R&D of new weapons to get the Palestinian and Iranian Terrorists.

Ronstar, do you think these stocks are safe for a person close to retirement to invest in? I'm planning to wrap it up in about 2 more years.

    absolutely not!!!

if I was near retirement, I would invest in much safer funds.

this past January, the health fund dropped 8% in one day. I was very frightened.

I like to invest in FFN, PRVT, and RICK.

Then I donate my dividend check to local churches.

I prefer to invest in uncorrelated ETFs, in order to mitigate systemic market risk and generate alpha returns. Not only should the ETF returns be uncorrelated, but I strive to be both long and short in order to hedge against global macro black swan events.

Ive had thoughts about investing in USO, but the risks are great.

at my age, best to just go for riskier mutual funds, as I am doing

I realistically suggest you have a three tier system, a high risk a medium risk and a long term low risk. The gains from your high risk transfer to the medium risk and the medium risk gains transfer to the low risk. That way you are always insulated from volatile market fluctuations for the most part, see your long term low risk ones as your base account.

I have been averaging in to USO and may pick up some more if geopolitical events cause a downside breakdown.

I am also getting into selling option premium. My initial research confirms that around 90% of options derivatives contracts expire worthless. Obviously, I must have contingencies built in to deal with the occasional but inevitable black swan events.
