We have many rapists, murderers and street thugs that we are about to execute on death row. Although the thugs served no useful purpose in life, is there scope for them to make amends in death? If we execute the thugs in a way which does not damage their internal organs, then surely those organs could be used to save lives? As I have said before, I prefer dropping a big block of lead on their heads - crushing their brains before the body can react and sense pain. One moment you're a functioning, painless human - and before the body knows it the brain is entirely destroyed. Doesn't get any more compassionate or thrifty than that. Their organs can then be harvested. [hr][/hr] Although - if we didn't seize people's bodily sovereignty and violate their personal liberty in the most blatant way imaginable, organs would be much less scarce and there probably wouldn't be much point in harvesting those of killed prisoners. People should be able to sell or give away any part of their body without restriction or regulation. No exceptions. Thousands die every year as a direct consequence of the state seizing control of your body.

I'm guessing that both lethal injection and electrocution leave few organs in acceptable condition for transplant. Hanging or firing squad might allow it. But morally speaking, that seems like a business the government should stay out of, lest they stand accused of murdering people to feed the organ trade. If the prisoner wants to donate, and the method of execution allows it, fine.
Soon we'll have "planned prisonhood", "planned seniorhood", and "illegal immigranthood". And with government healthcare, and you got the money, they will seek out a match, arrest and harvest for you.
The parts could at least be used on illegal aliens and other prisoners needing transplants. However, I do think the parts should be sold at market rate to those good citizens needing them most. The profits should be divided up three ways: The DA's office that put the monster away/the prison that had to house them for years/and the victims and/or victim family member. What remains of the comdemed can be placed in garbage bag or cardboard box and turned over to whoever would want it.

The guillotine would be perfect for that. If they make it snappy they can get the organs out within minutes of the creep losing his head. I like that last idea.

people executed in the USA should have their organs sent to Israel??? why, are Israeli lives worth more than American lives???? Israel has 7 million people. The USA has 330 million people. We have a lot more people desperate for organ donations, that little israel.
Executed Iranians are not innocent after death. Their organs should be sent to Israel for use in Jewish patients. This would be the ultimate punishment for Iranian criminals.
hahaha!!!! the body belongs to the family of the deceased. only they can decide if the organs should go to Israelis. personally I say the organs should go to Americans, since we have many more people in need and Israel is notorious for not donating organs after death. They have one of the lowest organ donation rates of any country on Earth, due to reasons one can only imagine.
Yes we are lacking donors for organs and so it would be extremely useful to harvest them in order to save the lives of others.

I am totally opposed to the death penalty for one reason. DNA has shown innocent people have been/are being murdered by the state, while the criminal of course goes free. If the DP could be fixed to where no one would be murdered by the state, but rather executed I would agree with the DP. Still I would not agree with harvesting organs involuntarily. Its a barbaric practice that China employs, of course China also condones infanticide. Also some of the for profit prisons and other authorities just might get a little too busy pursuing DP cases and denying appeals etc to line their pockets with blood money. Yes I know I am in the minority and most people trust their 'authority' figures. However as a victim of the system (charged with a felony, later dismissed) feel the judicial system from a (small) percentage of cops, to the DA (where a large percent of them suffer corruption) all the way to the Judge, and even governor is rotten to the core. In any case I wouldn't want to, or I wouldn't want a loved one to be sitting in TN's 'old smokey' knowing we were innocent while a bunch of ghouls were in the back room sharpening their knives ...it sounds like something out of a horror story. reva
Don't you wonder why there are so many organ transplants being done? Only the doctor knows. Many surgeries are unnecessary, among them are organ transplants.
