Power and liberalism corrupt; absolute power and absolute liberalism corrupt absolutely.

Oh, you are a live one. Does this mean that you drive a pick-up truck and sometimes drive around with over sized United States and Confederacy flags flying in the back? Park in your front yard, sneer at the neighborhood kids, wear a baseball cap and think that camouflage is fashionable?

I happen to know quite a bit about your Libertarian ideology. In was begun in 1972 by a couple of conspiracy theorists who were upset that Nixon had taken the US off the gold standard. (Even though, in practice, the US hadn't been on the gold standard since the early 1930's) After having studied Libertarianism I have come to the conclusion that it is a not too well thought out fantasy that is unworkable and undesirable in the real world. Here are my top complaints about the Libertarian ideology.

    1. Central to Libertarian ideology is low to no taxes or regulation. When one compares all the countries around the world, one sees that those countries with fewest taxes and regulations, the people are poor, the leaders highly corrupt, and lifespans short. Places like Somalia. Conversely one sees that those countries that are sufficiently taxed and regulated, as in Scandinavian countries, the people have the highest standards of living and the best health.

    2. Libertarians deceptively use the language of liberals yet, when elected, Libertarian politicians reveal themselves to be little more than just another right winger. This should come as no surprise as Libertarianism is a right wing ideology. Right wing being rule by the wealthy and well connected. With each iteration of Republican tax cuts the result has been the wealthy getting wealthier and everyone else losing ground. Once the coming inflation gobbles up the meager tax cuts for the middle classes from the current tax cutting, you'll see, the average man will be no better off, while the wealthiest will hold an even greater share of the nation's wealth.

    3. Likewise with regulation. Pretty much every regulation was put in place because someone was doing something that was harming others. Cutting regulations lets corporations pollute and harm others with impunity. The Libertarian idea of taking people to court is a disingenuous idea. How is an average individual going to afford to take to court a multi-billion dollar concern? Again we see the right wing (rule by the wealthy) leanings of Libertarians.

    4. Libertarians think that there should be no public spaces. That everything should be in private hands. In many ways this makes Libertarians sound like anti-social loners. Apparently, if you want to sit in your corner and ignore the rest of human society, than Libertarianism is for you. However normal humans are social animals and enjoy being in public places with other humans. In the Libertarian worldview parks would be in private hands and only accessible by paying a fee. Out here in the west there is a great deal of public lands. Nearly half of some states. Because of this, that anyone can freely journey to forests and mountains, and the recreational possibilities that entails, life is significantly more enjoyable here than it is in the east where public lands are few. Studies have shown that people who have regular access to nature tend to life happier, healthier lives. In the west, many communities live off of the tourist trade of those who come to bask in all that public preserved lands have to offer. It seems Libertarians want to take it all away, sell it off to the highest bidder.

    5. I'm not sure why Libertarians are so anti-school. After all, society is much better off with an educated citizenry. Possibly, being conservative, they are upset that the Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that religion not be included in the public school experience. Then there is another possibility. You see, I very much enjoyed school. I played sports, took girls to all the dances, was involved with many activities and got good grades. It was a very enjoyable time of my life. Sometimes I get the feeling that Libertarians tend to be among those who never had such a positive experience when they went to school. Or is it more of the Libertarian right wing tendencies. Without public schools poor kids would go uneducated giving the wealthier an even greater advantage.

    6. Here is one for your IQ problem. If everything is in private hands, then who owns the roads, who maintains them, how are they paid for? Would you have to pay a toll every block as you move down the road? What about water, sewer, and electric lines? Who would offer the right of way? If roads are privately owned, does that mean that the police would also be privately owned? If a person was without money, would he be trespassing wherever he went?

    7. Libertarians like to characterize their opponents as statists. Funny that they say that when they seem to be corporatists, as if they have unwittingly sold their souls to corporate rule. Remember, corporate rule has nothing to do with fairness, due process, or justice. At least the state gives you rights and holds corporations and criminals in check. In our government of we-the-people, we are all able to participate in its direction. With corporations, it is only those few, who own the greatest share, that have real participation in its direction. The Libertarian ideal of a diminished government is to diminish the voice and will of the people.

    8. Libertarianism looks a lot like a cult. Seemingly a re-marketing of and/or merging with the cult that followed Lyndon LaRouche. I suppose that is why you all are always so unreasonably angry at the outside world, as people are attached to cults by way of their emotions.

There is one good thing that I can say about the Libertarian ideology/cult. That is, that 95% of the population see it as much as the lunatic fringe as I do. Did I mention that it was founded by conspiracy theorists?

Actually begun by Aristotle 2000 years in his battle against Plato's communist Republic. Continued by Jesus in his battle against the huge liberal Roman state to establish the individual apart from the state, and then by our genius founders who established a country with an extremely tiny govt( on theory that govt had been the source of evil in human history) that became the greatest country in human history by far while liberal states were slowly starving 120 million human souls to death. Now do you see why we say liberalism is based in pure ignorance?
