He is currently polling at -5 which is still higher than his predecessor at this point and is coming out of exiting a 20 year war half assed. His approval numbers are already flattening and disapproval numbers are leveling out as well according to polling aggregates.

If Republicans are successful in shutting down the government and the administration can create a uniform message you can easily expect to see these numbers reverse. The Afghanistan debacle will be off the radar for many Americans in 3-6 months if history has shown us anything.

We can't shut the Government down by protecting the public interest. Only the democrats can hold the sword to our throats to put us super deep into debt.

Historically, which party adds more to the debt when they control the executive branch?

Furthermore, the notion that the public interest is preserved by defaulting on debts incurred due to previously approved spending is comical.

Rasmussen Reports/Pulse Opinion Research which Five Thirty Eight rates as a B (none are rated an A) has Biden at 42% approval as of 29 September. YouGov (B+) has him at 40%. The highest are Echelon Insights (B/C) and American Research Group (C+) at 50%.

Looks like if democrats get their way democrats will add the most debt along with strangling business and driving more overseas.

You jumped right over the very simple question. Try again.

    Must be an inconvenient truth…

By the time he left office, Barack Obama was responsible for half the federal debt.

    Normally it is Democrats.
You did not understand my comments on this issue. We should only approve rather minor increases in debt, not this enormous crap shoved at us by some of the Democrats. Fortunately for us, some of them are blocking it.

As much as I hate Biden. We are in a pickle because if he dies we are stuck with her.

Democratic voters really ****ed us up with this last election. But they solved the mean tweets boys!

    Still not answering the question…

Obama spent less each year and his first budget was forced due to the recession handed off by the prior Republican president.

trump spent in 4 years what Obama did in 8

    Unequivocally false. Typical

What do you believe should be done about our failing infrastructure? Just let it rot?

We have one POTUS at a time. Each is responsible for every dollar from the moment of swearing in. When he left office Obama had accumulated as much debt as all other Presidents combined to that point. Trump was an irresponsible dolt whom I will not defend.

I don’t see how a president is responsible for spending that has already been authorized and signed into law before their tenure.

How can a president reverse an already approved budget?

A President cannot appropriate more funds without Congress, but he can reprogram or spend less. And don't forget, he gets to sit on the other side at the end of his term.

So wouldn’t it make more sense to hold a president responsible for what he signed and not what his predecessor did?

Also, how can a president “spend less” if the funds have already been appropriated?

A President may always spend less than the appropriated amount.
Each President assumes full responsibility with the oath of office. Fair or not, he's in charge.

Again, how can a president choose to spend less?
    Those budgets are already allocated.
