Presidential Resignation???

Recent events have essentially rendered Pres. Trump politically neutered. In a surprising turnabout, investigators have not ruled out criminal charges being held against our conspiracy theorist Pres. for his role in the attack on the Capitol, which itself is being considered a conspiracy. There is considerable trepidation in both parties concerning whether Trump can be trusted to lead our country for his remaining two weeks in office, and 25th Amendment proceedings or impeachment are being considered.

IMO, it is entirely possible that Trump will consider resigning in the immediate future if he can get assurance from Vice-Pres. Pence that Trump and his family will receive pardons for any and all federal crimes levied against them following Pence's ascent to his brief term of office as President.

History may once again repeat itself.

 

A few supposed right wingers protesters really made the left lose their minds. Imagine if the right protested as heavily and lengthy as BLM and Antifa. How many more threads about the one single incident?

 

Yes. I have expressed that opinion for years. But I would have guessed that he resigns in the morning of inauguration day. The failed coup might have precipitated events.

Forget the threads. How many more dead cops would there be? I mean, these thugs are not out there just to light fires in a trash cans. They're absolutely capable of killing anybody who tries to stop them from defalcating on the desk of the Speaker of the House.

However, issues in which protesters are right (like BLM) tend to have a much longer life span than protests based on a lie. So I doubt there will be that many more. At least not as widespread.

Per the bolded section, are you referring to the rioters across the country who were yelling defund the police, what do you want dead cops when do you want them now, fry pigs like bacon, BLM and Antifa burning buildings, looting, assaulting? That's what it seems like you're referring to.

 

He didn't. He only incited them into acting violently. Which resulted in them taking over the Capitol.

During the whole summer of protests over George Floyd, 11 people died, 2 of them shot by a rightwinger, who is facing charges.

On Wed, 5 people died in a few hours.

I don't condone ANY violence, be it by Trump thugs or Antifa. However, it is important to keep proportions in mind.

 

I have yet to see anyone condone the violence that happen this week, but I have seen over a dozen threads about it as if it's something new. The rest of us are wondering where you've been most of 2020.

Now, to honestly continue your argument re: proportion, compare and contrast the duration of the events, their the geographical scale, both over the location of the country as well as the area actual affected by said events, property damage, lives disrupted, and jobs lost.

 

Implicit warnings of a high potential for violence were made a week before January 6. ANTIFA and BLM made formal complaints concerning the presence of high numbers of armed right-wing activists ( including Proud Boys) inciting violence on the streets of Washington DC, but Trump, aware of this, continued to call for as many pro-Trump protesters as possible to converge on the Capitol grounds, implying that somehow they could change the outcome of the election. Of course, if he recommended violence, he knew he could be held responsible.

After the violence, Trump called for the crowd to disperse, fondly adding "we love you" to the message. Shortly before they broke into the Capitol, Rudy Giuliani tweeted "let's try trial by combat".

The "law and order" Pres. has consistently demanded loyalty, not to country or the Constitution, but to himself. He expects cabinet members to lie under oath to defend him, and he denounced Mike Pence for refusing to defy the Constitution.

 

... which did not materialize, especially given the fact that carrying guns in DC is illegal, save for the very privileged, very few.

I also think black cops and judges that discriminate against whites when caught should be punished

when bad cops are caught in the act, good cops should protect us from them

we should all want this

 

I’d be surprised if Pence would be on board with that at this point. Trump made Pence a target. I’m sure there’s some hard feelings there.
