There are independent estimates for each of the concentration camps and extermination camps, these are based mainly on researching the Nazi documents, because; whereas, those selected for immediate extermination upon entrance to the camps were never registered at those camps there are records of their departure from other camps which people have been painstakingly putting together for years in order to A) name those killed in the Holocaust; such as, the Yad Vashem project, and B) to give the most accurate estimate for deaths available, all those Jews who were not registered at the camps were immediately killed by gassing.
