this is a usps money order, it is given to you as you see it (ok smart azzz, the word sample won't be there & the numbers won't be all zeros), nothing but the amount is on it, they do not fill in any names:

Moderating must be an impossible job. My Bernie for President pigging bank still has a little left over for good causes. A well managed discussing board is a good cause. Donated.

I donated a self imposed fine for violating a forum rule. I think this is a good idea for everyone. It's labor time to regulate the forum.

The problem with this is who decides when rules are broken. If Moderators were perfect it would have merit, even if decisions were made by committee it would help. As it is Donations/Donors actually stop contributing when dinged for "Breaking" rules they never broke.Hell I got slammed for being funny one too many times and went away to let the points expire and wont contribute again until it seems more friendly.

Any system and people are not perfect, but the outcome is generally correct here. Human communication is too complex with subtle meanings that get misunderstood, or missed completely in addition to a near infinite conflicting points of views, plus buffoonery, and dishonesty, and immaturity are all ingredients in monitoring a discussion board. Somehow laws of the heart and the rules of the board get balanced.

The best solution and feature of this board is the "ignore button." If it is used properly trolling would be a minor issue, and moderators would be bored out of their mind! Put an inauthentic OP on "ignore" and they are just wasting their time and not yours.

Having Moderated many political forums for decades, I am well aware of the nuance and temperament required to maintain a well tuned community. I am also well versed however, in what constitutes biased moderation whether for personal or political reasons as well as simple overzealous use of this power over community. The balance is difficult to achieve and requires constant fine tuning and adjustment to critique to avoid dissent and exodus.
