The very fact of encirclement of Russia by the USA, plus their false accusation of the shoot-down of MH17 over Donbass, plus accusation of forcefully annexing the Crimea, plus hitting them with deadly sanctions show more than over-clearly the USA is either afraid of Putin or wants to goad him into retaliation... meaning to give reason for attack. It would, or rather could, be a repeat of WWII... Russia being like Germany, overwhelmed by the rest of the world. Perhaps China would be an ally to Putin like Japan was to Germany. It's questionable if China would want to get involved. Without China's help Russia is doomed.
