It's really bizarre how much they think about other people's sex lives but don't give a damn about Gaetz voting AGAINST a human trafficking bill and being caught up in some allegations right now. But, two same-sex people loving each other or a qualified person getting recognition is a crisis!!!

Beyond that, they claim that non-heterosexual relationships and transgenderism is "destroying the nuclear family" but the @ss they worship...

    * married two high-priced escorts,
    * took his mistress to confront his first wife on a family vacation
    * contract #3 was a lesbian porn model
    * bareback with a sex worker
    * countless sexual harassment cases swept under the rug
    * told a staff member that he hasn't been paying attention to his projects because he's been cheating with several women.

    * And, he's made inappropriate comments about his own biological daughter.

Yeah, gold standard on the "family values" there. <smdh>

I said nothing about agreeing with me. I stand by my opinion, based on many of the comments here, that most of those posting childish cartoons or making snide "jokes" in ridicule of transgenderism do so out of ignorance.

It's not mental, it's natural for a small percentage of our species, and exists in other species as well. There us nothing "fluid" about the science. Perhaps you could use some information yourself. You could start here:

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_and_psychology

There's nothing finer than tested, peer-reviewed science, IMO. Unless perhaps it's empathy for those who aren't like us.

Keep up the ridicule if that floats your boat, but I thought better of you.

No, she is not a man. Transgender surgery would have ended that, don't you think?

My opinion is not about men in general, it's about the men posting ignorant ridicule on this thread. Most of the men of my acquaintance are reasonable, intelligent people. And one of them used to be a woman.

I have a very close friend who is homosexual. He doesn't want to be female, but prefers men for intimacy. Even so, when he was a young man, homosexuality was a severe stigma. He married and had a child back in the '70s. (Good thing ... that child is now quite wealthy.)

Some men grow up thinking of themselves as girls. They prefer dolls to toy trucks. For those, homosexuality may make sense at first, but that dissatisfaction and feeling "not yourself" persists, and the only remedy is transgenderism. It's similar for lesbians: some, like one guy I know, have always thought of themselves as men, and just having sex with women doesn't make them feel whole.

Drag queens are not necessarily homosexuals. Some heterosexual men simply enjoy dressing and posing as women. Call it a fetish if you like. It isn't always about sex.

Growing up, I wanted to be a fighter pilot but my eyesight wasn't good enough. Fortunately I had the ACLU to help me. I wound up have to bail out a few times and crashed here and there. Killed maybe 20 or 30 people and destroyed several homes. But it made me feel 'whole' and that's really all that counts.

my impression of transgenderism is that it runs a whole lot deeper than adherence to atypical superficial gender roles, as you're presenting it. this type of argument can lend itself very easily to misogynistic oppression.

That's my take. Levine hasn't done anything to deserve this accolade except for existing.

Now that said, being trans in her public position can't be easy, and the amount of hate she must receive or at least notice from time to time is disgusting. Perhaps she does deserve an award, I'm just not sure it's this one.

Isn't the fun part that she’s a man dressed as a WOMAN winning woman of the year…yet she’s not actually a woman at all. She only identifies as a woman. And she’s not even a convincing woman. She’s literally a man dressed as grandma with hormones, very similar to the recent Jeopardy champ. A total stereotype of a Trans. Every stereotype that anyone could imagine.

And it’s hard to look at the accomplishments when the main reason he/she obtained that position is due to his sexual identity. That’s the problem. It’s hard to look at the legitimacy when the nomination is utter ally absurd. Like Obama winning a Nobel for simply being elected as a black man and accomplishing absolutely NOTHING yet, then shows how peaceful he is by bombing a bunch of people:) Trump technically deserved the peace prize more than Obama, which is funny enough. That’s how absurd it all is.

    Simple answer: XX

Other than the rare anomaly, that's about as basic a definition as you'll ever have.

As a man, I do feel that I can comment on someone assuming the role of being a woman though. Rachel isn't any more a woman that I could be. It doesn't matter how much they want to be one. Want to make them the "transgender" of the year, great.

well i don't have a degree yet but i do major in and do research in biology & i think i can safely disagree with the assessment that womanhood is defined by fertility

You can safely disagree with anyone here. This isn't China yet. Now, whether that makes you correct is another issue. By all means, keep researching, and explain then why men aren't physically able to bear children. We have oodles of time.

So a XX who cannot have children is 'less than'? Not a 'woman' in your book?

Then I guess a male who cannot impregnate a XX is not a man, either.

Do you see the absurdity of your statement?

I do agree. In a vacuum, it truly doesn’t bother anyone. That is until men are winning woman of the year, competing in women's sports, or forcing teachers to teach 5 years olds about gender fluidity. And it’s especially dangerous when it infiltrates the workforce through DE&I and Affirmative Action policy. Corporations including mine are putting managers through “training” to empathize with alternative lifestyles and behaviors and how to adapt to THEM. And that’s the kicker. Normal people, the vast majority, have to adapt to THEM, the extreme minority. Sorry but that’s backwards. We need to watch our speech, even when it’s totally innocuous, like, and I quote, talking about your family unit and obviously watching your pronouns. NO!!! Just NO!!! By embracing an alternative lifestyle you’ve already ostracized yourself from normal, balanced life. Referring to yourself in the plural is not something everyone else should be forced to accept. And sorry but most people will have a hard time trusting your competence in fulfilling your job duties when you can’t recognize reality or expect everyone around you to share in your delusion. It’s like having to trust someone with full facial tattoos. Nope. That person has demonstrated they are mentally unbalanced, and it only works in the entertainment industry where being unbalanced and borderline mentally ill is “normal”. I was in the industry and it’s hard to find a single person that can be considered stable:)

Be trans. Live your life. But don’t demand the dictionary be changed. Don’t demand language be changed. Don’t demand laws and rules be changed. Don’t demand to compete with women when you have major physical advantages. And don’t complain when people call you out. You brought it on yourself. You can dress like who your are at work then go dress up like a Unicorn on the weekend. But you can’t nor shouldn’t be able to dress like a unicorn AT WORK and expect everyone to call you rainbow, with a strait face and take you seriously. Because you’re NOT serious. You’re playing dress up in a professional environment. You’re playing fantasy on your grown up day life. Play fantasy all you want at home because that’s where it belongs, unless it’s YOUR business. Then you can be and do whatever you want and I won’t impede on your ability to run your life and business however you choose.

Actually, I looked into it a little, and yes, I do think she got the award because she was transgender. I say that because although she has had some achievements during her tenure, there seems to be other women who seemed to have achieved more, but, like someone else pointed out, to rise to the level she has and be transgender most likely was harder because of biased people.
By the way, I work with transgender people all the time, and have no problem with it. It doesn't bother me one bit if someone wants to identify in their own unique way.
But I also don't treat them differently that I would anyone else. In other words, I don't show them favoritism just because they are transgender. I think most of them just want to feel like they are treated like anyone else. I also have mandated training every year to help understand people who have different views than I, because of the type of job I have.
I wasn't judging her, just pointing out that I felt like there were other women who were more deserving, BUT that's not my place to make picks for USA Today.
The irony is that you made an error in judgement when you assumed I don't know anything about alternative sexual preferences.
I actually understand, especially as I scroll through this thread and see some of the comments and memes people post.
However, we must understand that this is basically an opinion board, with some facts thrown in here and there. (not enough, imo!)
We have to be careful that in our zeal to make people feel included and accepted that we don't wind up being exclusive and not accepting of others.
It's one of the reasons I picked "Balancing Act" as my user name. It's very difficult sometimes to be respectful to others, especially if you don't agree with them or their views. That means we just have to work harder at it.
    Hope that helps!

He is a man, therefore cannot be woman of the year. No matter how much lipstick and hair he puts on, it's still a man. Failure.

i'm not contesting whether men can bear children (they can't), i'm contesting your assumption that the ability to bear children is a useful measure of whether someone is a man or a woman. which it isn't, since there are hundreds of millions of women who cannot bear children and would therefore apparently be classified as men by you.

it's basically like you saying this guy:
is a worm because he does not have legs. like, while it's true that worms do not have legs, that does not make this guy a worm, because there are other animals besides worms that also do not have legs. so "not having legs" is not a useful way of distinguishing between worms and non-worms.

The issue largely is they are not playing dress up though — by your own words it is a mental issue and in the vast majority of cases them transitioning is a medical treatment for that mental issue.

Refusing to call someone by their preferred pronouns is one thing — there are alternatives such as their name — but frequent misgendering someone is, and should be considered harassment.

Do you hold the same demands for people that have other “delusions” in the work space such as individuals wearing religious symbolism? By many metrics they are also playing pretend and want their chosen lifestyle validated and since their beliefs ease their discomfort I have always been happy to nod in agreement.

But what if it's a snake who identifies as a worm?
Trust me, I've met a few snakes who were really worms identifying as a snake.

That was a joke, btw, before the flamethrowers get cranked up....

Sometimes I think it would have just been better if Homosexuality would have just stayed into the closet, because once they busted down the door, they wern't satisfied with just being accepted, but wanted to change Biology, Nature, Science, Sports and America language for all of us and created this crazy wokism movement running rampant across America. America gave um a few inches and they decided to take the whole damn Planet.

Long standing established religions aren't delusions especially when I have NEVER been preached to or told to obey a one in the workplace. And those beliefs don’t make you change your physical characteristics. It’s mostly just wearing a symbol, easily hidden. Quite different than wearing make up, lipstick, fake boobs and taking hormone treatments:) And considering various religion are practiced by the vast majority of the world, you would have to claim most people are under a mass delusion which would make you an extreme minority. Now don’t get me wrong, some religions are greater than others, and push some rather destructive behaviors. Islam or Scientology for example. I’m Jewish BTW.

But don’t compare religion to gender dysphoria. Totally different animals. People also choose to believe a religion and no one forces anyone else to accept it in this country at least. According to new science we’re “supposed” to believe someone who thinks they’re another gender, actually is whatever they claim to be that day or even that minute. You’re a bigot or phobe otherwise. Science be damned, hehe. Science can easily prove what gender you are. Can’t disprove god and never will, until the aliens come and tell us they implanted religion 1000s of years ago:) But I know exactly where you’re coming from since plenty of religious beliefs can be absurd and nutty when taken to extremes.
