None I just explained it to you.

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; . . ."

Not "of the People", it is there to fund the operation of the government, maintain it's assets and pay it's debt obligations.

He read a prepared script -- but there was no spontaneity at all, and he didn't take any questions. It was not a "press conference".

Forecast: the first time that his handlers actually DO allow ol' Joe to have an authentic "press conference", it will probably be the shortest one on record. Note: if he's put in a position where he has to speak directly, with no pre-digested bullshit, about this horrific fugg-up he, and HE ALONE has caused on our Southern border, it's going to be something to behold! :omg:

The only thing he could do to make it even worse would be to try to blame Trump for it, but he may be crazy enough at this point to try....

Oh, it was not good enough, - the right type of appearance. LOL

If 50% of Americans said they were concerned that he had not appeared in public, I'd say 99% of them would not bicker of what type of appearance it was and would not be concerned any more now that he has made a prime time address.

You might be right, but I doubt it.

Even a muttering, stumbling 'zero' like Barack Obama could read a prepared script beautifully... a real polished teleprompter 'pro', as we saw again and again, for eight long, weary years. Much the same could be said of "W" Bush, frankly.

Bill Clinton was actually quite good at speaking 'extempore', and Reagan, of course, was legendary.

But, for better or worse, at some point ol' Joe is going to have to stand up on his own and take questions -- or is he going to have Kamala do THAT part of his job for him, too...?! You'll notice, anywhere and everywhere you see Joe, she's NEVER more than about ten feet away....

Press conference scheduled for the 25th. I wonder what the GOP will whine about then.

    Here is my guess:

    #StopTheSteal
    #Uncle Joe Bad
    #Cuomo,Cuomo,Cuomo

^Just off the top of my head.

And, back on topic to the Rasmussen Poll:

It is a total joke which serves as confirmation bias for the "Lookie Here! Uncle Joe Bad!" crowd.

My university training and 30+ years of teaching high school students and adults suggests you can drop "so-called."
Most economists think we shouldn't hand money to the unemployed, help businesses stay alive and be ready to resume production when demand for their services and goods comes back, as the virus is beaten back with vaccines, treatments, and perhaps a cure. If we can get the odds of catching the virus and experiencing significant medical problems down to a very low number, life has a chance of being a lot like it was in 2019.
    I'm breathless.
You seem to think there is a way to determine whether or not the economic system is generating fair outcomes. In fact, you seem to accept the outcomes being delivered now.

OMG. So much for a reasonable discussion.

I saw a survey a few years ago that had 50m saying they would immigrate to Canada if given the chance. Can you imagine how many would come here? There is no way any government could or would open the border.

This is the Canada-USA border (on left) and Germany-France border.

    upload_2021-3-16_18-15-52.jpeg upload_2021-3-16_18-18-44.jpeg

Guess which one is an "open" border.

We don't have "open" borders, but we are allowing too many people to overstay tourist visas, too many employers to get away with hiring illegals, and not resolving that status of people already here.

Color of the suit, shoes, hair.....they'll find something, but I assume it will begin with Tucker Carson making faces during the speech.

PersonallY I don't care. Biden it the most low-key president in decades, which is ok after listening to 4 years of rants.

Agreed. Carlson is a preppy troll; time to stop feeding him.

Biden certainly doesn't care. Why would he? The Republicans control nothing. Thanks to the former guy.

GOP decides presidents should have news conferences all the time now that Trump's gone (americanindependent.com)

This claim [about Biden] is highly misleading. While Trump held his first formal solo press conference on Feb. 16, 2017 — nearly a month into his lone term — he gave exactly zero more over his entire first year. His then-spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed in early 2018 that more were unnecessary because Trump frequently communicated with the public "through Twitter."

According to the American Presidency Project, Trump gave the fewest in the first year of his administration of any president dating back to Calvin Coolidge.

He gave just nine solo press conferences over the first three years of his administration, before giving 35 in his pandemic-plagued final year.

    Trump who? Tucker who?

    But, enough about TRUMP.

    This thread is about Biden.

And, Biden's Approval ratings are way above water.

    Rasmussen is mostly land lines.

    Who has land lines?

Exactly! I said he was just as senile as Biden... Both men are aging and aren't as sharp as they were in their 50's and 60's (who is?), but neither is senile by definition....

Your information about Rasmussen and 'land lines' is loosely-based on information from 11 years ago. Your assumption that "elderly folks tend to vote republican (sic)" is made with no documentary support in your post... just your opinion.

Consider: "Elderly folks" are almost always on fixed-incomes, and a very large component of their income is their earned Social Security monthly payout. It may just be my own 'opinion' but through the many years, we've seen that Democrat regimes are more 'friendly' to the Social Security system than Republican admins -- right? 8)

Do you remember how Elizabeth Warren's campaign surged in popularity last year when she pledged to increase Social Security with a large increase for the first time in over a decade? Ah, but then she abandoned it and started playing the "Social Justice Warrior" instead, and her popularity nose-dived. Boring....

Hint: Yes, there are some rich "elderly folks", but a LOT more of them are living hand-to-mouth, with no prospect of ever being able to earn any appreciable amount of supplemental income.

Everything Trump did was to try to herd more and more people into an already grotesquely overvalued stock market 'casino', where you can lose your ass in a heartbeat. But you think that 'elderly folks' are all going to vote REPUBLICAN?! :oldman: -- "Bullshit!"

You're absolutely right, Andy, the thread is about BIDEN. And as I said in the post you responded to -- "Sure... the most powerful and influential nation on Earth... just let it flap in the breeze. Our ADVERSARIES are lovin' every minute of it....". None of Biden's 'outreach' communication skills, if they exist, change that opinion at all. Silence in the White House 'basement' on a host of pressing issues isn't helping ANYTHING.

I'm talking about the 'here-and-now', Andy -- and the only thing we've heard from Biden (except for reading from a prepared script) is one closed-off 'interview' with long-time Democrat-insider host George Stephanopoulos on ABC.

Still, the 'cattle' will be happy for awhile -- at least until they burn through this last $1,400 handout, and then they'll want something else....

I can certainly agree with you that we stupidly allow too many aliens to 'overstay' visas, and employers who hire illegals should be thrown into prison with mandatory, zero-tolerance sentences and heavy fines!

But what would you call it when an citizen of another country just comes barging into the United States, wherever, whenever, uninvited, and starts demanding this, that, and anything else they can get their hands on or lay 'claim' to...?! Is that a closed border?

BTW, there are entirely different border arrangements between France and Germany. Both of them are EU countries. But we have no such 'arrangement' with any country, ranging from our Southern border all the way to the South Pole....

Yeah, what the hell... in another nine days, at the rate we've been getting them, that will only add about another 2,300 MORE 'unaccompanied' illegal brats all over South Texas that have to be put up, fed, clothed, COVID-tested (if they even bother to do it at all), transported, on and on and on.

Biden could have taught Nero a couple of lessons in how to "fiddle-while-Rome-burns" -- especially when Biden is the one who set OUR fire himself....
