Like all government programs Ocare is illegal and immoral as well as being a slush fund for criminals. Only someone who is an absolute moron would support the government confiscation and mandatory control of any aspect of what is supposed to be a free country.

Well I know I now have to wait longer to make an appointment and some of my procedures are no longer covered or recommended

Clearly you are not most people. I gave you too much credit.

Not the millions that don't work and collect welfare or all the illegals working off the books and we know there are at least 15, 000, 000 hiding out there in the open .

"The more people who are dependent on government handouts, the more votes the left can depend on for an ever-expanding welfare state."

No, as long as government is involved it will be a disaster. Look up some of the problems that Brits are having with their system. See if you want our healthcare system run like the VA is run with people dying on lists fabricated so bureaucrats can get big bonuses.

    This is a fundamental mistake.

The VA is the way it is because the target audience is a tiny minority of those who vote for its funding, management, etc.

If all citizens were served by the VA as their only health care service, the VA would NOT be like what it is today.

Today, congress only cares about VA when things go way wrong, and then only to the extent of putting in place some plan. When the issue is US health care, congress gets WILDLY excited about it - yahoo for democracy!

As for your UK comment, I'm all in favor of figuring out how to spend dramatically less on health care (like UK does), but note that in UK they still serve everybody! And, that needs to be a fundamental principle.

First of all, those without documentation DO pay taxes in a significant percentage of the cases. The reason is that employers do the deductions, and they are NOT interested in being crosswise with the IRS by being part of a scam like that.

Next, let's remember that we have laws against those without documentation working ON the books! So, while there is a problem here, let's be careful about attributing the source of that problem.

Oh, and Thomas Sowell is a tool, parroting a disgusting political meme that leads nowhere and means nothing.

Your right it would be worse. How is ending competition and giving the government a monopoly a good thing? The VA is an example of that.

Its called death panels or the government finally finding a way to save money by letting people die if it costs too much. You would think they could find better ways to save money.

Do you imagine insurance companies are NOT INTERESTED IN SAVING MONEY?
Do you imagine that insurance companies do not restrict care in order to save money.
And, this is the time of year when i am deluged by offers from various competitive medicare plans
So i hardly see it as accurate that extending medicare must eliminate choice

No, like I said the VA is an example of the majority not caring about the health care of our veterans. If we all depended on the VA, the VA wouldn't be anything remotely like what it is, because we the people wouldn't allow that.

All first world nations (except the US) have single payer health care, and the health of those countries is equivalent to our own, but at a fraction of the cost. That is a good thing.

Neither of which are true, of course.

when you state most people don't pay taxes, it's kind of hard to read that as anything other than what it says.

When did the government end competition in healthcare ? What "monopoly" do they have ?

These comments show you don't understand what Obamacare is, which if your a righty is understandable because the right has made up so many lies about Obamacare that they aren't even debating real issues anymore.

You do realise that one of the big drivers of increasing premiums are Medicaid/Medicare

The IPAB is an ADVISORY board that has no power but to make recommendations to congress to change rules for medicare only. They see something happening, and they make a recommendation to congress on rules changes. Those recommendations need to be legislated by congress. The IPAB is NOT a death panel. To even equate it to that proves my point that we are debating things that aren't even related to Obamacare.

Im curious how you feel about the death panels that current DO exist at private insurance companies ? Are they bad in the private sector ?
