As everyone knows, Harry Reid has been trolling Mitt Romney about his tax returns from the Senate floor. Republicans have been unable to resist the urge to respond to Reid. From the RNC Chair to Romney himself, they have had harsh responses for Senator Reid.

In the end, Reid looks bad in all this. Using the Senate floor to troll a candidate is inappropriate and Reid looks hypocritical as well. But Reid isn't running this year, Romney and Obama are. By getting so worked up by Reid's actions, the Republicans have done just what he wanted. The focus stays on Romney's tax returns. Many, including myself, have been saying for a while that Romney and his ilk are not doing a good job of messaging in this election cycle and this a prime example.

The Romney camp should go beg Rove to teach them how to run a campaign.

He's doing it for a reason. Anything he says from the floor of the Senate keeps him safe from libel and slander charges. If he was in an open mic outside the Senate, Romney could sue him into oblivion.

    Or Dick Morris.

Romney isn't gonna try to sue people who insult him in the middle of a Presidential campaign. Looks weak and thin-skinned. He's doing it from the Senate floor to agitate Republicans, and it's working apparently.

I'd stay away from Morris. He might have been useful at one time, but he's just a talking-head hack these days. Rove still has game.

Ed Schultz was laughing his ass-off last night with a little montage of conservatives coming unglued ... usually right-wingers display themselves as the torment of the right-wing insane ... but these guys from Priebus to Graham to the Coultergeist to Morris to Krauthammer to Kristol to senior adviser to Romney Eric Fehrnstrom ... even MSNBC political analyst Michael Steele knew he couldn't help but to look goofy trying to defend the tormented-ones from Romneys alleged tax evasion ... to a host of other CPAC wacko-goofballs who have been in hysterical tantrums since this one busted-out on the scene ...

    ... well, I tell ya ... I was ROTFL myself ...

It's a brilliant strategy. It has managed to keep one of the many things that Mitt doesn't want to talk about alive and well in the news cycle. I wonder what this week's "push" will be...

Joe Lieberman has had some choice words for dirty Harry also, I caught part of his interview on Huckabee today he thinks it was a bad idea and said it would backfire on not just Reid but Democrats in general

And it keeps Obama from talking about his extremely crappy job as President and his failed policies to reign in unemployment (which ticked up to 8.3%)
And his major "You Didnt Build That" gaffe that will resonate all the way until November.
But when 23,000,000 Americans are unemployed, those distractions can only last so long.
    Wait until the debates.
Romney is going to crush him,and turn him into a stu....stu..stu...stuttering baffoon.

Lieberman like a bitter ex-lover. Dude is mad as hell at all his old Democratic buddies from the Senate ever since 2006. It's bad on Reid, but it isn't reflecting on Obama really.

don't really care about Lieberman one way or the other but Obama has been pounding this over a month, spent well over 100 mil on it for little ot no movement. Now Reid stands up on the Senate floor and talks about how a imaginary friend told him information only Romenys CPA would be privy to. This was a distraction attempt from the economic numbers, no more and no less. Silly season really. Gotta admit though seeing the libs on here twisting their undies in a knot demanding Romney dance to their tune has been fun

Actually, he talks about the economy all the time.

Only half-wits and partisan trolls fall for that twisting of his words.

That must be why the Republicans voted down the latest job bill...

The only thing Romney is good at crushing are the lives of American workers and his own chances of ever taking over the White House.

Under Obama as President,he has crushed more workers in 3 years than Romneys entire career at Bain.
But see, unlike Obama,Romney had alot of success while at Bain( Burger King,Staples,Dunkin Donuts) while Obama has completely FAILED and utterly SUCKS.

    I know,right?
it would be comical if it wasnt so (*)(*)(*)(*)ing pathetic.
The Left has fallen to the low of lying ,cheating, and doing what it takes to win in November. And it got even lower with a ad accusing Romney of killing a former steel plant workers wife (which he wasnt even at Bain at the time it happened)
    Its like
Everything thats going wrong with the country is Romneys fault, not Obamas.lol

Did you see Pelosis ranting about Republicans want "ecoli" in our water? We want to poison kids?I was like did this crazy woman flip her lid?Using the same old Liberal "scare tactics".We want dirty air and water,we want kids to die!Throw granny off the cliff!!LOL

    OMG!
Its a pure sign of desperation.

This glee in Reid's slanderous, McCarthyesque, drivel is rather dismaying. There were a few liberals on other threads, like Cubed, who called out Reid's despicable behavior. The fact that large percentage of the liberals on this site are finding such joy in slander should be an informative lesson as to the character of those people. Don't you have any shame?

Reid isn't brilliant because no one is falling for it. Not even the liberals are buying it. If the liberals know Reid is being sebaceous, then how will anyone else put stock in what he says?

Harry Reid was way, way out of line. The claims he made are just ridiculous, and frankly it's an embarrassment. He ought to apologize and then someone ought to duct tape his mouth shut.

Reid isn't up for re-election until 2016, and it's uncertain that he will even seek another term so he's not too concerned about getting votes for himself at the moment.

Well, if I had to choose between someone like Reid who was saying outrageous, offensive, made up nonsense, and someone like the sort of candidates the GOP has been putting forward lately who's bats*** crazy and thinks defaulting on the debt and blowing up the economy for some small perceived partisan gain is A-OK, that doesn't strike me as much of a choice. However something like this would make me more inclined to vote for a primary challenger to Reid. but since I live in Pennsylvania, I doubt that will be a decision I'd ever have to make.

Harry Reid will be 76 years old in 2016, will be retiring, and has no reason to care about how the perpetually outraged crowd is crying about him. If they all weren't crying about Reid, they'd be crying about whatever else their masters ordered them to cry about.

Really hard to tell the impact of this early slime-fest by Obama. Have to remember folks - Obama's used this tactic in his last 3 elections and it has worked. So folks may say they don't like slimey political ads but time after time dirty-filthy lies are proven to work.

Reid is retiring I believe, so he has nothing to lose. I don't think his reputation ever meant much to him anyway.

You voted for him to prove you aren't racist. Now vote for Romney to prove you aren't an idiot -

I'm guessing the rest of Reid's plan will eventually unfold. It's already been leaked that John Huntsman Sr. is the source, and the evidence does support that. When that's confirmed, all the "Reid is a liar!" shriekers will look even more ridiculous. They should probably apologize to America now for lying about Reid, just to get ahead of the game.
