Key Republican lawmakers and leaders, even critics and rivals of Donald Trump — including all of his declared opponents for the party's 2024 presidential nomination — have rallied behind the former president following a Manhattan grand jury's unprecedented vote to indict him, condemning the case as a political prosecution….

…Legal experts have denounced the case as baseless.

Declaring that Bragg has "irreparably damaged the nation in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election," House Speaker Kevin McCarthy vowed that the "House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account."

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, a potential but as-yet-undeclared challenger to Trump, called the indictment "un-American" and indicated that his state would not aid in Trump's extradition. Trump currently resides in Florida.

"The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,"…

This is good news. The party base and its elected leaders are rallying to our former and future President. Speaker McCarthy will certainly empower House committees investigations in to Bragg and his actions. The governor of Florida announced that if Trump doesn’t show that his state will not cooperate with New York in any extradition process.

The left thinks they have to worry about Trump voters.

Agree, there aren’t enough of them to have to worry. Will 2024 be the first time he gets more votes than his dem opponent?

What makes no sense to me is, if the elections are "rigged" why would they waste all of this time and money to lose again

If I didn't know any better, I would think that they have been lying....

That depends on how independent voters view indicting a presidential political candidate leading the poles with a 7 year old claim the feds refused to prosecute do to lack of evidence.
Just another look at what Democrat rules looks like

Didn’t the title of the current events news article make that clear enough for those on the left to be able to understand?

Trump is expected to turn himself in and face the charges against him. There will be no more free rides for Trump anymore. I think the Republicans ought turn away from Trump and move on. Trump was bad news then and he is bad news now. What will the GOP do if Trump were to be convicted and sent to prison? I have an idea! Move on without Trump.

Its questionable strategy giving reliable polling data out there showing Trump's continued declining in popularity with the same group that cost him the last election; moderate Republicans.

Its really difficult to help you through this when you ask questions proving beyond any reasonable doubt, you have absolutely no idea of whats at stake.
Instead of the more obvious conversations throughout the threads, you ask if voters will vote for him since his crimes are old?
Thats a clear declaration you have no idea whats being discussed.
Its cute, but really has no relevant meaning.

Everyone knows he did it, the only defense is the statute of limitations.
I’m skeptical voters will cheer him getting away with crimes because of that. But it’ll definitely help in the gop primary where everything is someone else’s fault.

But you think Trump can't afford a 130K payoff?
    Thats amazing really
Now, 7 years later, Democrats decide to try and step over the statute of limitations, making it out to be a federal felony crime, just to get an indictment, on a charge a local DA can't even prosecute, breaking 250 years or precedence, to go after a political rival, but the only thing you think is relevant is voters voting for him over a 7 year old crime?

If what he did was a crime, it would have been used in his impeachment when it was investigated.

Forget about Trump (if thats even possible for you) and think about whats coming next.
You think indicting a presidential political opponent in this circumstance is acceptable to you?
You going to buy a new banner for your front yard that says, No one is above the law?
You can't see ANY possible fallout from this in the future because you hate Trump more than you desire just a bit of common sense?

Its good to pretend to be blind sometimes. It some peoples way of coping with reality.

It is good see that the Republican Party is standing by the leader of their party.
I'm sure the Democrats will do the same when the head of the Biden crime family is indicted.

There is a difference between standing up for what it right and standing up for Trump. I think the indictment is total BS. However, I would like to see someone do something (legally) to get that blowhard old man out of the race. He had his time and he blew it by not keeping his mouth shut. He is the reason that he lost the election in 2020. He is the reason that an idiot is in the White House right now.
