(CNN) - Rick Santorum's three-year-old daughter Isabella, who suffers from a chromosomal condition called Trisomy 18, was admitted to a Philadelphia hospital Saturday.

In a statement, Santorum spokesman Hogan Gidley said the GOP presidential candidate and former Pennsylvania senator would cancel campaign events on Sunday morning.

    Then today:

PHILADELPHIA, PA - Speaking from the hospital room where he said his ailing 3-year-old daughter is making a "miraculous turnaround," Rick Santorum said that he would resume his campaign on Monday with stops in western caucus states.

Someone want to tell me how this guy is a family man more than Newt again?? I seem to be missing the punchline!

Sorry buddy, but I'm for Newt. Hardly what one would call left. I was just surprised that all the ballyhooing about Santorum being such a family man, that a sick kid of his barely gets 24 hours of his time.

Man when I was sick as a kid, in the hospital, you couldn't drag my dad from that place!

    He's an idiot.

Still, in this case, a lot depends on the medical condition of the kid. If the child is stable and doing OK, the noise is unwarranted.

Santorum has enough going against him to make this overkill.

    I hope the kid's OK.

If he took time off to take care of his kids people would be saying that his family is too big to allow him the time to be President.

Santorum should just quit and support Newt.

    And here we go.....

Let's attack Santorum for being a "bad father" now, won't that be fun?!....it's kind of refreshing actually, because usually the attacks are all against woman and their mothering duties. Except Hilliary of course, she somehow always managed to escape prosecution in the liberal courts, maybe we should have talked about her neglecting her wifely duties instead?....hmmm

I would say it is as well. That's does not mean however that at all times 24/7 BOTH mother and father shall attend to their childs every need, now does it? No, that would be ridiculous because how would the world ever function? It wouldn't.

Child has had problems since birth. He is probably used to it and can tell pretty quick if it's going to be a bad time in the hospital or in for just a simple tune up.

Not to mention, doesn't look like kids with it live long lives. :(
There might be some resignation to the end going on.

Well, this does speak highly of Santorum who seems to have made a comlete turnaround from an earlier episode when his other kid died, and for a day he paraded the lifeless little body in front of his other kids at their family home, encouraging them to say goodbye to their little brother, or what ever reason he later gave to the reporters.

It's pathetic to criticize others' grieving. A baby in mother's belly is a much anticipated sibling. Saying goodbye is very important--you don't just pretend nothing real happened and that moving mass of human matter wasn't your little brother that now won't be a part of all the family events you imagined yet to come. I think his choice was healthy and respects his other children's lives by showing how much they are valued, even before they were born. Gabriel lived two hours--he was their brother.

'They have seven living children. In 2008 at the age of 48, Karen gave birth to her eighth child Isabella, who was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 Edwards syndrome, a serious genetic disorder, often caused by the advanced age of the mother, with only a 10% chance of survival past the first year of life.[160][161][162] Santorum characterized her condition as "similar to Down's Syndrome, but much more severe."'

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Santorum#Personal_life

Isabella is the one in the hospital.

What kind of dumb ass parents - who already have 6 children - have another child when the mother is 48?

That's disgusting. I guess you'd be a supporter of Eugenics considering that sort of anti-freedom perspective.:puke:

What's disgusting is having a child when you are that old knowing full well the chances of birth defects go through the roof.

Now that poor little girl is probably going to die before she is an adult and will be in a great deal of pain before that happens because that is apparently what happens when you have the condition she has.

    Selfish, stupid parents.

Which is why Obama spends his spare time with his wife and kids, and not speaking to the press.

FYI Rick is on a mission from God. Everybody else will have to take a back seat for the moment.
