I guess the people who hold the greatest ethical title to what is now the United States are the various Native American nations.
European Americans are not ready to give their property back to them.
Are African Americans?
Are any other US demographic who hold property rights or interest?

 

What about Liberia? Around the time of American emancipation, Europe had colonized most of Africa, except for what is today Liberia. America secured that land for freed slaves who wanted (voluntarily) to have their own country and sovereignty. America invested billions of dollars over the next few decades to help people build up infrastructure. What did American-Liberians do? They colonized the land, captured and enslaved the indigenous native blacks. They essentially set up a rich-and-poor caste system where American-Liberians had complete supremacy over natives for well over a century. Natives were never given the chance for any sense of equality.

Perhaps the cruel nature of man is the same regardless of differences in skin color. The fair, humane, and just side of mankind is always in a struggle against its own darker and more vicious inclinations. It's amazing, and rare, to be able to have a truly civil society where people continually fight to form and perfect our ideal that the better angels of equality and opportunity will be the victors in the end.

But choosing meant conquering and dominating the Native Americans through sheer force of strength, though smaller in numbers. Neither you nor I would be here without that forced acquisition.

Is that small percentage of Black Americans really ready to have a bloody civil race war to occupy land which is currently owned by others? I don't see the 80% of blacks who have succeeded in American either seeking or wanting reparations, so the numbers of the "occupying army", would be small.

The majority of what I'm hearing is that the small group seeking reparations is not wanting to occupy your own properties by force, but legally, through government. So if the government is willingly "gifting" land and equity, then you know the government will be the ones to choose which land and how much equity is given. We "gifted" the Native Americans their own reservations and allowed them to set up semi-sovereign governments on those lands, and the federal government subsidizes very meager financial assistance and programs. Impoverished American citizens living on 100% U.S.-governed land, who on welfare, housing programs, and other existing government gifts seem to be doing far better than the conditions of Native Americans living on their own land under their own set of laws.

The bottom line is that government "gifts" always have strings attached and the government makes all the choices.

 

Giving Jews a tiny slice of their ancestral land, where they are now surrounded by hostile Muslims, and making them share that land with hostile Muslims was such a boon.

 

this is the problem with acquiring land by conquest plus im not american and not all land is acquired through conquest. the bible clearly states that if you live by the sword you will die by it. take ppl into captivity and you will go into captivity.

My point was that most of the land in the world has been taken by force, not that I expect the reparations-seekers in America to do so. There was that one guy (Newsome?), the co-founder of NYC BLM, who did suggest on a Fox News interview that if "they"(BLM) don't get what they want they would burn down the system. I put "they" in quotes, because no one seems to be speaking on behalf of the entire BLM group, but of course that one representative is getting national attention.

Having nuclear power to defend your country from others who have nuclear weapons isn't a bad idea. I expect that if you lived in Israel, either as a Jew or as a Palestinian, and feared daily about being a victim of the violence between Gaza and Israel, you wouldn't be scoffing about hardships there.

 

that is why much of the world is as it is, constant wars because we think conquering another ppl by force is the answer. it doesnt have to be that way, greed and materialism have become too powerful a force due to no morality.

blm is a fringe movement seeking to further trans and queer rights, they just piggy back black nationalist movements for credence.

I agree with you on both points.

On war, sadly, greed, hate and envy is the dominant driver of most men. We are a competitive and vicious species if there ever was one. That's why I said earlier that it's amazing that any civil society has ever lasted very long, and yet the better and more humanitarian instincts of man keep struggling to survive and win.

 

Nukes have the capability to go half-way around the world. Couple that with satellite technology in space. It's not like the A-bomb was the last thing to be developed. Many countries have very sophisticated weaponry today.

 

a quick google search shows that the only muslim nation with nukes is pakistan but they cant reach israel. anyway, its getting too off topic, its been getting off topic, my bad.

Facts don’t care about your opinions either, no one is justified for any form of reparations for anything their ancestors did. I didn’t give anyone anything and don’t ever support it.
