RNC Convention Week

Trump does have the timing of a stand-up comedian when he tells a joke. lol

Yep. He has the very best brain. lol

 

It's a nice contrasting balance. Trump was smart to let Pence head up the Covid Task Force.

The VP should always be supportive and let the President shine. Biden was good for Obama, sitting behind him and smiling for 8 years. They did become very good friends, even if Obama questions Joe's intellect and ability.

I think Kamala would outshine Joe, which is sort of reverse of "normal".

 

Kamala is supposed to be giving the democrat rebuttal tonight.

 

I think she did that earlier this afternoon...a pre-buttal, they called it. Is she also doing a follow-up???

 

Funny how she can leave her basement and go out and talk to people. So can Pelosi, and most every Congressman, and everybody else. lol

 

Hmm not sure.

 

It really doesnt look good. Or I should say it looks obvious that his handlers think Biden needs to stay in the basement. Democrats think they can easily fool the American people. They've had that problem for a while.

 

He is the perfect counterbalance to Trump's personality.

 

I think Trump is now overstaying his welcome. His speech should have been shorter. It's getting boring.

 

Seems like Trump has given Pence some assignments where he could get independent publicity on his own accomplishments and maybe run for POTUS or Congress after his stint as VP. I don't recall Biden doing much on his own for eight years, away from Obama's coattails, but that may be my memory.

 

30 minutes. His rallies usually run over an hour. (Of course, this isn't a rally.)

 

"Joe Bidens agenda is made in China!!!!"

 

That was the most effective phrase in the entire speech.

 

I doubt that. If Trump gets 4 more years, the next candidate will be Ivanka.

 

This is Kamala's 25 minute "prebuttal". I haven't watched it, but probably will at some point this weekend. She's a prosecutor and after the "hate and fear" Democrat Convention last week, I expect this "prebuttal" is just more vicious attack strategy and no alternative solutions. No hope or optimism "for all".

 

Republicans could have another 20 candidate primary, or like the Dem primary this year, lots of "runners". I think Pence will enter the contest some day. He just doesn't have the "pizazz" that other candidates have. Although, Biden is sort of a "Blah" candidate with Dems thinking that the mundane signifies "healing" or "soothing". Unfortunately, for me, their convention last week just messaged more contention and division of the "us versus them" competition. It didn't feel unifying.

 

He's at 56 minutes, so this is probably a one-hour speech.

I am new to all this as I've avoided politics since interning for a local campaign office in college. I am only interested now because I have children and want to understand the important issues for their futures.

With that said, I'm sure Pence and Biden, both, have accomplished things in their own respective rights. It seems like Pence's personality may be better suited to a seat in Congress rather than the Presidential role. I get the impression that many are questioning what Biden has stood for during all the decades he's been in public service. He's been at it longer than many voters have been alive.

Hopefully, whoever wins can bring the country together in a united front to reopen the country and heal the nation.

 

Neither of them have the ability. We have the government we deserve.

 

Amen. That's what we need. Unfortunately the partisan political pots have been stirred so much that I don't see the next four years bringing unity. No matter who wins, the "other side" is going to be angry. However, Covid should be "tamed" over the next four years. The economy is "iffy". I trust Trump to get the economy back versus career-politician Joe, but that's just my opinion. Joe saying that he would lock down the country if scientists said that we needed to is not a good sign. Scientists have an interest and focus on health-only, not on the economy. We have to balance both. Grow the economy and manage hospital capacity until there's a treatment or vaccine.

 

Okay. I'm getting sleepy and have to work tomorrow. This has been a great speech...a little long...but full of hope and optimism. Very well done.
