On Tuesday, Roger Moore’s children announced his death at the age of 89 in Switzerland, saying: “he passed away today after a short but brave battle with cancer”.
Dang. RIP. James Bond was the subject of my final paper for my Homeland Security and Intelligence 500 level class. It was a good excuse for me to re-watch a bunch of these films. Great movies and I'm sure a great guy.
A great Roger Moore, Not Bond, movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081809/ ffolkes (1980)When terrorists take over two oil rigs and threaten to explode them if their demands are not met, an eccentric anti-terrorism expert volunteers his unique commando unit to stop them. It's got Anthony Perkins too. I never knew he was from Stockwell... Just says he died in Switzerland.. (Not the Swiss town or city, just 'Switzerland').. Roger Moore's funeral's going to be in Monaco.. R.I.P Roger Moore
I told my 92 year old grandmother that Roger Moore was from Stockwell.. She then said 'Mrs. Moore, the lady I used to teach with/had a flat at the bottom of the road when I was at Wavertree Road... She was related to the girl the star was with shortly before he was famous, and this lady, Mrs. Moore was angry at him for A, having chucked in this girl she was related too, but also, because he stole me and my husband's name Moore!.. and used it as his stage name, then went with some older singer/star, famous when he was called Roger Moore and then he chucked in the famous one; Mrs. Moore was furious he did that... (I was like; Oh, so you knew heard he was from Stockwell, then, I didn't).. But, that's the story I heard today - thought it was worth sharing.
