From Vanity Fair: Israel’s current prime minister is not just a friend, he’s an old friend,” Mitt Romney, with whom Netanyahu worked at the Boston Consulting Group in the 1970s, told aipac in March. (Romney, Netanyahu suggests, may have overstated the tie. “I remember him for sure, but I don’t think we had any particular connections,” he tells me. “I knew him and he knew me, I suppose.”)
    http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/2012/07/benjamin-netanyahu-on-israel-mitt-romney

    To sum this up...

Romney on Netanyahu: "He's an old friend"
Netanyahu on Romney: "I don’t think we had any particular connections. I knew him and he knew me, I suppose.”

What should be made of this? Is one of them flat out lying, or does Romney lack the social skills to understand that a coworker who gives you a polite nod in the hallways is not an "old friend"?

Romney is a proven liar. That's all that anyone needs to know.

My guess is that Romney is attempting to pander to the Christian right, who see Israel as something that should exist due to their own mythology doctrine, and appeal to the Jewish vote, who would normally favor those of the Democratic flavor.

""GIANT STORY"" Another great distraction form BH Obama's failed administration.

Speaking of flat out lying; you can't find a better examples of lying than in BHO's speaches.

Nice attempt at deflection, but we're talking about the inexplicable difference between Romney and Netanyahu's accounts of their relationship. Try to keep up.

Hmmm, seems to me that the ODS crowd will ignore any lie that the One says but turn anything Romney says into a conflagration. Funny to watch.

So you guys actually have nothing but to turn around and bash Obama? By the way I'm going third party, so don't expect me to defend Obama or Romney, both worthless in my opinion. But why won't any conservatives address the actual topic of this thread, instead of just focusing back on how much you hate Obama?

I assure you that I do not support Barak Obama and when he murdered an American citizen without due process I was certain to make my feelings known in that thread or threads.

However, this is about Mitt lying, not Barak. We're not 5 where we can get away with the "But other kids do it, too" arguments. This is a presidential election and, whether you like to admit it or not, there are three candidates and only two of them are liars.

You don't think it is import that a ranking Israeli has a lack of enthusiasm in regards to an alleged connection to a presidential candidate, and/or that Mitt Romney is lying again?

Glad to be voting for Johnson...

just out of curiosity....what sort of due process would you have wanted for someone being harbored by a foreign govt while he coordinates attacks? (insert hypothetically if you prefer)

How do you know he coordinated attacks?

Without a trial or very least grand jury I do not know if he coordinated attacks or just said he was happy that attacks occurred or were attempted. Preparing "secret memorandum" doesn't cut it for either myself or the ACLU who happens to share the opinion.

so you want a trial for someone who refuses to show up and present a defense? that seems more reliable?

I 100% agree its a troubling idea....killing a us citizen with no apparent due process....

but absent other options, nations harboring terrorists leave us no other reasonable choice.

After London you didn't think any more damage could be done... you were wrong. The Solidarity Movement in Poland disavows any connection to the man. Netanyahu denies any sort of friendship. Geez Mitt! Here is how it is done...

I want what happens to everyone in his situation. A warrant goes out for his arrest, when they are able to arrest him they will bring him in for an arraignment before the court where his charges are presented. He would then be allowed to make a statement for his guilt or innocence, a grand jury will indict, hearings begun and then he will be presented for trial.

Someone telling me he is guilty is not enough--especially when those known someones have a history of lying for the greater good, implicating innocent people, etc.

There are many people walking around with warrants that the police or FBI has not located, some even leaving the jurisdiction of the United States. We don't--or haven't in the past--engaged in jurisdictional ignorance, suspended due process, and murdered people.

How do you know he is a terrorist?

What's disconcerting about Romney's particular kind of boobery is that he is so out of touch, he apparently didn't think Solidarity would notice that he was an anti-union politician trying to wheedle an appearance of an endorsement out of Solidary, by working on their former leader.

He seems to assume everybody is as dull-witted as he is.

Vanity Fair? LMAO. Next you'll be believing an anti-Obama story in the NRA newsletter.

    Oh. No?

As far as I know Netanyahu has not complained that he was misquoted or taken out of context.

Doesn't really make a rat's ass to me one way or another, I'll never be friends with either.

I'm more concerned with a stagnant American economy, record unemployment and the worst real estate market I have ever seen. Too bad elected officials, and aspiring elected officials, are too preoccupied with smoke and mirror BS, to take the bull by the horn.

Just to mention, in my opinion that applies to all three kings and/or would be kings, that are touted here daily. Obama, Romney and Ron Paul.

The USA seems on a fast train to hell, and all these ass clowns want to do, is pay lip service. It almost literally make me sick, and definitely makes me angry.

    *sigh*

Good post, and dead on about the "three kings" thing. I posted this thread not because it;'s important but because it's amusing, and somewhat interesting on a sociological level.
