He used it as a VERB not a noun he wasn't calling Gillum a monkey and Gillum is just desperate to throw the race card so he doesn't have to defend his policies.

As I said I do not see de Dantos's statement as on it's face racist. It is sloppy. He should have said don't throw a monkey wrench into this.
