He says he wants to do something different. The truth is he does not want to be bothered with questions about his record.

DeSantis will soon announce his candidacy for the Presidency. He is ducking the major networks and the general audience.

The Times reports, "Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida is planning to announce the start of his 2024 presidential campaign on Wednesday in a live audio (no video) conversation on Twitter with Elon Musk.

"DeSantis’s first impression as a presidential candidate will be aligning himself with Mr. Musk, an eccentric businessman who has ranked at times as the world’s richest man.

"In addition to his Twitter event, Mr. DeSantis is expected to appear on Wednesday evening on Fox News in an interview with Trey Gowdy, a former congressman from South Carolina, according to the network."

While his government has been busy banning books in libraries and classrooms, DeSantis has declared war on transgenders, and he okayed a bill banning abortions after six weeks.

Today, a 61% majority of U.S. adults say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 37% think abortion should be illegal in all or most cases.

While he has been busy nailing down government control of pregnant women, DeSantis has essentially banned abortions in Florida.

Has DeSantis lost before the race even starts? He has virtually admitted his weakness is with the general audience (read election).

Can you blame him? The media will just lie about anything he says, hit him with ambush questions: "have you stopped beating your wife?". Meanwhile, they'll ask Biden about his favorite flavor of ice cream...lol

Today, a 61% majority of U.S. adults say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, while 37% think abortion should be illegal in all or most cases.

Of all the major issues facing Americans today, there is very little voters can do about any of them.

One of the exceptions is abortion.

Politicians and voters cannot do anything about the economy. Politicians and voters cannot do anything about inflation. Politicians and voters can do very little about the invasion of thousands of illegal immigrants from Mexico and Central America. Over the past seventy years, many have tried to no avail.

The reader gets the point. There really is very little the voter can do.

But by choosing politicians with whom they agree, voters can do something about abortion, and a solid majority of voters prefer pregnant women have control over their bodies, not the government.

However, a significant number of Republicans support government control of a pregnant woman's health.

President Trump is directly responsible for the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade, which allowed for government control of pregnant women's health. Today, as a Presidential candidate, he will not discuss his position on abortions.

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley on Wednesday pledged to sign a federal ban on abortion but noted that passing one would be highly unlikely without more Republicans in Congress.

Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, as governor, signed a bill that banned abortions after six weeks.
Republican presidential candidate Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) voiced his support for a six-week abortion ban.

Republican presidential candidate and former Vice President Mike Pence commended DeSantis for signing the state's six-week abortion ban into law.

The South Carolina Republican legislature passed a six-week abortion ban.

Can Americans do something about this?

    They sure can!

Amateur night in Florida. DeSantis looked like an idiot.

The Hill reports, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign got off to a rocky start Wednesday when his announcement event on Twitter was plagued by technical difficulties, which persisted for more than 20 minutes before the governor was able to deliver his speech and participate in a question-and-answer session.

Worst retail politician to toss his hat in the ring in some time. I don’t believe he’ll connect with voters: comes off as inauthentic.

Ronnie is afraid of Trump's MAGA base. He's terrified they turn fully on him.

My 2 cents, he's hoping the court cases and the DOJ cases take Trump out of the race. I wish him luck with Ultra MAGA...

    Meatball Ron’s Sad Discord Chat

As you must know by now, the thing kicked up with a grandly humiliating tech glitch in which the whole “Twitter Space” crashed. After twenty minutes or so (I didn’t time it) they started a new one – now hosted on Musk’s crony David Sacks’s account as opposed to Musk’s – and that one mostly worked. Huge fail. And that will probably be the headline take away for most news organizations. Then DeSantis read a rushed and canned campaign announcement which was basically a mess. But once they got down to talking, DeSantis is fairly good at talking about the issues that matter to him.

The problem is the issues that matter to him.
This is a way, way, WAY online-minded campaign. Extremely online, as the cool kids say. The whole conversation is geared to the keyboard warrior world of the far right.

The generalissimo of grievance is making the same mistake Liz Warren made in that he's going after an excited but relatively smaller part of the base. The part that gets triggered by anti-wokeness.

You can see here by the responses from the Democrat minions that DeSantis has them running scared. He’s very sharp on his feet, and he might be the candidate who might be able to go toe to toe with Trump’s insults and get the best of him.

My problem has been his far right turn on abortion and concealed carry. I agree with the second amendment, but background checks are a must.

Still I will probably have to line up with him if there is to be a way to stop Trump. People keep talking about how Trump is an ahead of Biden with 40 something points. The trouble that is 40 something percent of the vote is all Trump can get. He’s got his rabid fans, but after that, it’s reluctant voters, like me, who are anti-far left Democrat, which is all the Democrats can field these days, or rabidly anti-Trump voters.

Are there any real Joe Biden fans? Perhaps somewhere in a memory care unit there are those who remember him from 1988. That’s probably 2% of the voters. The rest of Biden voters really from the the “ill vote for anything the Democrats nominate” camp and the “I hate Trump!!!” club.

Policy wise, Biden isnt doing anything different then what I would do. He works with the team, and is leaving me alone. Is take steps to end prohibition, supports liberty and body autonomy.

Conservatives seem like they want to imitate Russia and want a one man show running the country. Thats not what freedom is about.

Lots of hate out there for DeSantis. So explain why the good people of Florida like him and re-elected him as their governor by a large margin? Could it be because he's a republican and the media hates him? Of course.
I watched DeSantis' first interview since declaring to run for president. He got straight, direct, important, and short questions from Trey Gowdy, no phony but a great interviewer who was once a federal prosecutor. DeSantis ducked no question, answered them all with clarity and explained his plans -- no clichés, no pandering, no platitudes, and no diarrhea of the mouth.

Of course I'm worried about DeSantis, he seems way more tyrannical than other Republicans and I already can't stand them as it is, between him trying to go to war with Disney, fighting against "wokeness" for some reason and more recently signing a law that lets doctors discriminate against LGBT people. This also goes for him trying to control and limit how racial issues are taught in colleges and higher education.

So your complaint is that on the night of his announcement, he did not hold a press conference that included all major networks?

Has any candidate ever done that when announcing their intention to run for President?

How soon before some bimbo comes out of nowhere and claims DeSantis told her a dirty joke back in junior high?
Pay close attention to the criticism of DeSantis -- all petty crap. Listen to his policies, look at his record, and you'll see a different kind of politician who the country needs.

Grooming underage girls with alcohol wasn't enough so what harm would that do? Trump confessing to such things like grabbing woman didnt seem to harm his momentum either with his base. Being anti womans rights seems to work well for conservative front runners.

We already had a twt for a president in Trump, we don't need another, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people would still support him even if he did really do those things.

I have a 100% opposite views of the parties. Abortion is the main legal freedom, the Democrats allow. The other freedom that Democrats support is the “right” to be a criminal with few legal consequences. This is the George Soros, anarchist wing of the party.

I suppose that “end prohibition” is the right to use pot and maybe some other drugs. We will see how that works out. Some are claiming that pot can contribute to psychotic episodes. The stuff they can sell now might be stronger that what was sold illegally in the past. More disturbing are the instances where fentanyl is added to it for stronger high.

Yea, like supporting trans men in women’s sports? You party is dumping on female athletes to lock up the trans constituency.

Thats not a state or federal issue, that is a league issue. One that could easily be addressed if they just ban hormone treatments to compete in girls sports, the same way they ban testosterone and steroids.

Only an authoritarian would insert the state into such things.

No. The Republicans took a vote in the Senate, and not one Democrat voted to support female athletes. Why can’t you break ranks with your party a take a stand on an opposing issue? Why is perfect party unity such a big issue with Democrats?

Because that (the republicans interfering) is authoritarian. They (the left) voted to not interfere as its a league issue. The republicans arnt "supporting" woman. They are simply trying to force their view.

Tell the women, who have trained for years, that it is a “league issue” when they lose scholarships to dudes who decide to compete in women’s sports when they can’t cut it against the men.
