Mexican immigrants are generally social conservatives who enjoy working for a living. Gas prices and other economic factors affect them as much as anybody.

I realize many liberals do believe that skin color denotes cleanliness or lack of it. Really, what was Biden talking about when he said pbama was the first clean mainstream african-american. How many meanings does clean have? I'd say two main ones. Either not corrupt or not dirty. Which was Biden referring to?

It's one thing to be a social conservative, its another thing entirely to be oppressed, shunned, and constantly in fear of legislation to kick you and your family out of the country by the same party that is considered social conservative. The right SHOULD be gaining an advantage over this voting bloc, but they can't seem to let their inbred racism and white supremacy from seeping into it's leadership and trumping mere social conservative policy. Most blacks (yes I'll stereotype) are anti-gay, but they still vote liberal, because conservative racism and anti-social policies hurt blacks MORE than their stance on homosexuality. There is a balance and the right is clearly losing the battle on immigration in regards to Mexican American voters. Don't be surprised to see more and more shift to the left, because the longer the right holds them down, the more they'll have to rely on social programs and welfare to survive. Then you'll never win them over and the conservative movement will be over in America.

Well, Obama sure can't run on his birth certificate, selective service card or social security number. So what does that leave... his record, obamacare, fast and furious, Poland missile defense, Egypt, Israel, Libya, Solyndra, the Stimulus, race division, the beer summit, suing Arizona and Alabama, homos in the military, bowing to the Arabs, the apology tour, illegal immigration...? Then again the only thing that Romney has is a lifetime of stellar successes.

you show a pretty clear lack of knowledge of the changing landscape of the US. You must not have noticed, or accepted the realization, that the fastest growing population of LEGAL voters are hispanic. There are plenty of legal Hispanics in this country, and yes, they happen to breed a lot more often (Catholic roots and all) than whites, blacks and asians. Of course, I don't mind one bit if the right continues to deny this fact and the repurcussions of their supremecists undertones and beliefs. It only helps my side and my ideology. (oh, and I'm a caucasian midwestern Christian communitarian that hires an illegal cleaning lady and supports amnesty, the death penalty and higher taxes while cutting spending. What does that make me?)

Well then, you're gonna have to explain what you meant by the republicans threatening to throw people out of the country. Exactly when did the republicans threaten to throw citizens out of the country?

It has nothing to do with him being white or black which he is both. That is just you and Obama once again showing you are racist. 8% unemployment, a weak economy, Solyndra, fast and furious these are just some of his baggage not to mention increasing the debt 5 trillion

:woot:  Congratulations, Sadanie!!! :winner: :flagus:

I know it's not easy to get US citizenship. Great job, that's an accomplishment, and welcome to the US!

    ------------------

Anyway, posturing and rhetoric aside, the math does seem to give Obama an edge right now. Of course, it's really early and things can change a lot between now and November, but hey, I love math and maps, and this has both! If you want to play along, Real Clear Politics has a neat little map you can play out scenarios on. I started by flipping Nevada and Pennsylvania to toss ups.

After looking at a bunch of projections, there are 11 states that anybody thinks are toss ups, with their electoral votes:

    Florida ( 29 )
    Pennsylvania ( 20 )
    Ohio ( 18 )
    North Carolina ( 15 )
    Virginia ( 13 )
    Arizona ( 11 )
    Missouri ( 10 )
    Colorado ( 9 )
    Iowa ( 6 )
    Nevada ( 6 )
    New Hampshire ( 4 )

You need 270 to win, and we're starting with 227 for Obama, 170 for Romney, and 141 in play. Let's look at best and worst case scenarios for each - best case is when that candidate wins the largest states, and worst where they win the smallest.

    Best case for Romney - he needs 6 of the 11 tossup states to win. 170 + FL ( 29 ) + PA ( 20 ) + OH ( 18 ) + NC ( 15 ) + VA ( 13 ) + AZ ( 11 ) = 276
Worst case for Romney - he needs 10 of 11 to win. :!:

    Conversely,

Best case for Obama - he needs 2 of the 11 to win. If Florida goes blue, any one of OH, PA, or NC will put Obama over the top.
    Worst case for Obama - he needs 6 of the 11 to win. 227 + NH ( 4 ) + NV ( 6 ) + IA ( 6 ) + CO ( 9 ) + MO ( 10 ) + AZ ( 11 ) = 273

So I think it's fair to say that right at this moment, the math favors Obama.

    Notes:

A quick google got me four independent sets of projections. They all have different lists of tossups, but none of them put a state in one candidate's column while another put that state in the other candidate's column. In addition to the Real Clear projections, the others are:
